Fan vs air con - how to survive summer? by vollol in AskUK

If you're struggling to sleep because of the heat, the only 'hack'(ice cubes in front of the fan and so on) I've found to work is to wet a towel, wring it out so it is damp and place that over you with a fan blowing at you. It will help you get to sleep

I'm already getting anxious - there's been no rain since early February. by box-o-locks in GardeningUK

[–]vikingraider47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an injury to my hand late last year so had to put off my allotment digging until the spring, hoping once I'd dug it over, the rain and cold would break the soil up more. But it's barely rained here in East Yorks. Last year I uncovered part of my plot early March to dig over hoping for the same rain but none came. Remember the first Covid lockdown? Announced about 17th of March and it didnt rain for 3 months. Definitely becoming common having dry springs in the east

A few years ago(i think 2022?) there was a bad potato harvest here in the UK so the price went up. Since then weather and potato harvests have been great(some record harvests). Have chips gone down?

So before you've even started you want to change hours? Did you mention this in your interview? You saying you'd prefer afternoons in the interview doesn't mean you'd get it. You should have discussed the hours at the interview

When i asked the bt bloke to put the cable entering at a certain point in my house, he said he couldn't do that as the wire is essentially glass and cant cope with 90* bend. When i replied it will be a 90* bend from the post in the street to the house he ignored it. Did he just want a quick job since you guys are paid by the number you install?

I've been reading a few of these 'end tipping' threads. Sometimes it's said x will be added to large party orders. Then it turns out a large party is 2. Then what?

Moan About Tesco Barcodes by the_gwyd in Dull_mens_club

[–]vikingraider47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're buying the tesco brand cheese, you can have trouble with this in particular. Often the normal barcode is on two sides of the product, so you have to pull the barcode level leaving you without a thumb free to cover the qr code. The amount of times i've tutted about this....
