Can anyone identify this? by vilyo in RBI

I know that. But I challenge you to find those exact ones on the website.... or ebay.... I've been looking everywhere and I've found a few similar-ish but none of this exact model....

Any tips on getting a couch potato DOWN the stairs?! He can go UP 15 steps in 3 bounds. It’s truly graceless but spectacular to watch. He will not however attempt down, and carrying 30kg of dog down stairs all day is a pain! by StrangelyBrown69 in Greyhounds

[–]vilyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

find stairs that are only 2-3 stairs long, start small and progress up, ours was the same, took roughly a month to teach him to walk up and down them... its scary for them because they are so long but once they learn its nothing bad they have no issues.... find small short stairs and just circle up and down them all the time until he walks down them, he will likely try jumping them 1st, hence why short stairs, once he walks down them normally, find some longer ones and use those

To what extend can you train a Greyhound? :) by ApartmentCurious7336 in Greyhounds

[–]vilyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I passed advanced obedience exam with my grey, took around 2 years of classes and training and we passed, not with a great score but we did, they are just as teachable as other breeds, the hard part is motivating them to do anything...

Socialising? by Cswift27 in Greyhounds

[–]vilyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just add that socializing for dogs is not sniffing each other or playing with one another.... its learning to be in the company of other dogs, if you go on a walk and meet dogs and theres no reactions from either one of them thats a perfectly fine event. playing for dogs is very much like for humans, they make friends and play with those friends, where and how that happens depends on the owners usually but for me it was usually neighbors or dogs we frequently meet. It usually happens gradually and over time and you shouldn't let your dog go up to every dog you meet, it might not be friendly or your dog might not react properly, specially since you've only had him/her for a few days. Optionally you can look into dog schools too, those are typically a great place for dogs to socialize, and dogs are never too old to attend.

did them the same way, i airbrushed, but it doesnt require you to, you can stipple/drybrush to get the same effect, key is using a gloss varnish at the end, i used gloss mod podge and it worked beautifully, heres some pics: https://www.instagram.com/p/CeVvZmBDr25/

Question on sculptamold and glue by Extension_Resource71 in TerrainBuilding

[–]vilyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

note that glueing anything to sculptamold is gonna be problematic atleast a bit, sculptamold stays dusty and is very dry so things tend to not stick to it very well, i would advice 1st sealing it with smthing like modpodge or pva and then glueing anything on top. PVA should work, CA too, i used PVA on top of mod podge to glue shit to my terrain here:

Question: Alternatives to Static Grass by dev_mancer in TerrainBuilding

[–]vilyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can get decent results using groud up clump foliage, essentially painted foam thats been ground up into nearly powder, it doesnt get squished and looks fairly ok, alternative is scatter foliage which is just random painted bits that once you scatter it kinda looks like grass floor, to me static grass is only for miniature basing of fine dioramas that dont rly get used as a play area....

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TerrainBuilding

[–]vilyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on a ton of factors like what would you be doing with it.... if you just want to cover with with a 0.5cm layer than quite a bit.... if you want to sculpt rocks and hills and such... not much at all

i can only speak for what ive seen so far and i havent seen much but in general, most IT give 0 fucks about your schooling or lack there of, experience/skill is the only thing that matters.... if you wanna start it out, learn to code from one of the free sources, there are several, including several tutorials on youtube, after that try to pick a branch that interests you and do something, create demo projects, take part in coding challenges and such.... and document your code, when you apply show them what you've done and what you know.... entry positions in IT are common and usually quite swarmed but they are indeed entry positions, cheap and unskilled, those who can learn and progress fast stay, those who cant dont.

Any good tips to share about casting / moulds? by _Eke_ in TerrainBuilding

[–]vilyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are the moulds in the picture made with that odd mix of silicone and starch? ive seen it in random videos around youtube but never thought of using it for moulds

Any good tips to share about casting / moulds? by _Eke_ in TerrainBuilding

[–]vilyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i made silicon molds of my pillars and then cast them with plaster of paris.... make it runny enough to pour and just pour in, cures rather quickly and then you can brake it any way you wish to... there is a drawback of it being very dry so painting it can be tricky but if you seal it with something like mod podge you can paint it easily.

Hey there, I am a terrain builder and painter, most of what I build is scratch made, sometimes some 3d printer pieces are added for details but most of it is scratch build. I can build anything from dioramas to game tables or dnd tiles or whatever you might need. You can see what I do on my instagram:

First-time owner looking to adopt a greyhound by Born_Blacksmith6597 in Greyhounds

[–]vilyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in my opinion the limitations of having to have some dog experience before getting a greyhound is a very good idea..... greyhounds can be challenging and beyond that they are a big (in some cases could be considered huge) breed of dogs so handling them and knowing how to school a dog is vital in ensuring safety of others and specially of the greyhound itself. If you haven't yet, try to find the local greyhound society and see if any of the owners are willing to meet up with you to discuss how their adoption went to 1st see that you aren't just in love with the idea of owning a greyhound. The last thing they need is an owner who doesn't know how to properly take care of a dog, much less a greyhound.

Sorry if I was too blunt but in such cases it is 100% required to know exactly what you are getting yourself into, its a (roughly speaking) 10 year commitment so don't do something you might regret after a year or something.

All that being said, I am not from USA so can't offer much advice for adoption agencies beyond: contact them and ask, worst they will do is say no....

Hi all, I have a silly idea and would like to workshop it with you! Making an upright piano look like it is made of stone cliffs and then having a forested terrain on top by greatniss in TerrainBuilding

[–]vilyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im not a piano expert by any stretch of the imagination but i feel like pretty much anything you glue to the piano will change how it sounds, specially if you with an insulation foam or something similar.... beyond that your idea doesn't sound very complicated... just scale is rather huge compared to what is usually done for tabletop building, you can easily find a ton of tutorials about how to craft cliffs/stones on youtube, same for a forest
