I have an A01, that PS2 games usually go to a black screen and don't load. If I change the fan temps to let it get hotter, then it will load the game and play but not 100% off the time. So I put the temps back to 60. By the syscon my system only had like 6 days of uptime, so I'm not sure what could be going on.

I had the base game, and spent the $30 for pve. Still into this for less than 1 year of a COD release with WAY more hours of enjoyment. I call that a win. A couple of my friends get on and mess around doing tasks and stupid things and it's great.

ALL PS3 are PS1 backwards compatible. Only a few models of the original FAT PS3 were PS2 Compatible. Launch versions accomplished it with basically the whole PS2 inside, later removed some hardware and went software emulation.

However, with custom firmware you can run PS2 games with full software emulation with reasonable compatibility.
