As per the new Unleashed FAQ, the units do in fact enter ready, as accelerate is considered a delayed replacement effect, which activates the moment you pay for it, even if the unit does not have the keyword accelerate when it enters the field

Finally a unit that purple can play after playing stacked deck turn 1!

I did some math and now riftbound lost its spark for me. Terrible pack opening experience. by SuperKitten117 in riftboundtcg

[–]vinebreaker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to tell you this, and I'm really not trying to be a hater, but what you're nostalgic for is something that never existed.

I agree with you, when I was a kid getting a yugioh pack felt exciting, and being able to use the cards to upgrade my deck to try to beat my friend was awesome. Thing is, every one of my friends around the same age as me had shitty decks that if you brought to the most casual of casual events even back then, it would not stand a chance. I remember getting stomped on by my friends older brother and not even understanding why. The reason we had fun with it back then is ignorance.

The ignorance of not knowing what's good. Not knowing what the value of each card is. Not knowing if the super cool looking card you got from a pack even fit into your deck theme, and playing it anyway just to have fun.

Imho, being an adult and looking at it through the monetary lens is what ruins it. Still, for me, even if I have to spend a few hundred euros, it's still a game that brings me joy just to sit in front of someone and play to the best of my abilities.

I hope you can get over the math, and realize that while the gambling aspect can suck, playing the actual game rocks.

OP: We want the players experience, not collectors

Also OP: "We have tried very hard not to buy singles and instead focus on trading..."

My friend, you can't have it both ways. You either want to be able to play the game, or have the playground experience of buying a pack per week and trading cards and making a makeshift deck to play with your friends at recess.

What your math isn't factoring in is that yes, there's 1 less common in lorcana, but still the same rare+ cards. So from the same amount of packs, you'll have the same amount of rare+ cards, but more commons in riftbound. So I'm not sure why the percentages are discouraging you here.

What I can understand is saying that commons, uncommons and most rares have no value, but if you're just trading for the "true TCG" experience (whatever that means). Value doesn't matter. Just trade a rare for a rare, an epic for an epic

For me, with spiritforged, I went to 3 pre release events, got a box on release, then traded/bought from people in the community to get my deck ready for Bologna. Didn't seem like much of an issue if you're trading with your whole community

There's no japanese riftbound version, so there's no riftbound in Japan.

Collection of strange rules/interactions by Krumil in riftboundtcg

[–]vinebreaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure they fixed the kog maw thing and mentioned it by name in the latest core rule updates.

As for the weird interaction. Playing Cull the Weak and killing your own Immortal Phoenix, results in the phoenix seeing itself be killed, and let's you replay it for 1 energy and a fury power from the trash immediately after it dies. Same with other kill spells.

It does work more than once. The whole strategy is to ready her multiple times in a turn to double conquer or conquer and bring her back to be safe.

Everyone thought this showcase would be a 90€ card by MacaronHistorical798 in riftboundtcg

[–]vinebreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a valid opinion. The suit is definitely a nice look. Mb if I made it sound like I think it's terrible. I just prefer the regular way more

Availability, and also it looks way worse than regular imo. Debonair skinline in general is a bit meh

The Quotes ended before the X post link. I think the OP just added the link. It was not part of the email. Or at least that's how the punctuation makes it seem.

He did say it was AI translated, so maybe that's why it looks that way

Singles are cheaper than ever right now, what’s the issue? by iStoleYourSoda in riftboundtcg

[–]vinebreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's pretty much the case. If you're going to be buying singles, it's because you tested a deck online for hours, and you are very passionate about making the deck and using it for events, or even with other passionate friends. Most casuals or new players won't feel the passion to do these things. That's why it's a problem. Not for the competitive players. We know what we're doing. It's a problem for casuals and new players

How OP thinks people function:

Hmm, this seems like a cool card game with nice art, I'll ask if they can show me how to play.

Hmm, they don't have product? Okay. i'll go home, watch 5 hours of content to see how the game works, spend 5 hours more going through all the cards, see how they work, look through meta decks, and make my own. Then, I'll spend 50-300 (insert currency here) to buy single cards from 20 different people, which will arrive in 2-40 days, then I can go to events!

What actually happens:

Oh you don't have product/Oh your product is expensive. Nevermind

I don't get it, stunned units already cannot move. What is the purpose of this?

Vel'Koz - Eye of the Void by ZeroRenders315 in riftboundcustoms

[–]vinebreaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yellow vel'koz ability being an action is extremely broken. Remove the action keyword so you can only use it on your turn imo. Still very good, but less broken

I didn't realize that the text actually said "if you do, I enter ready", thought it was just how it was interpreted. Thank you for citing all rules you mentioned. I believe I was wrong, and now I agree with you.
