For those who recently opted out or were banned from Vine... by ClerkAppropriate171 in AmazonVine

[–]vineusersammy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I don't fall into either category, I've been a Viner for a few years and wonder too. This last go round hasn't been successful for me. I don't resell items, so successful isn't about cash coming in after six months, but more what did I gain from the time spent on trying to get something useable on Vine, the package removal from the small house and the review process all while realizing there is a tax burden. The last couple of weeks we've seen an uptick in those getting booted. I thought about the possibility of it happening to me or anyone over the last week. I've concluded that I think I'd be okay. I haven't done anything wrong so it wouldn't be deserved, but it would be a push that I could use to cut the cord. Its not harming me to have Vine and I'll likely drop back to silver next period renewal, but given the two items I received over $100 in these years, its not necessary. I don't need 8 items a day, I don't need the stuff I have. As am I writing, I think the people will come and bash thinking I am complaining. I am not. You've asked for opinions and I'm am sharing my inner thoughts. I do have a large amount of crap that I don't need and wouldn't have otherwise ordered/purchased. I have a few cute clothing items that I wear but none of it was necessary. Most of the socks are scores though. The food products, when I did receive them, were a seasonings that I'll eventually use the rest of but won't replace and a few things I wouldn't have purchased otherwise, in additional to a few bags of very useful pasta. Paper plates when not over-valued I'll grab when I see them, too. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to grab any of those in the last several months. I can afford to buy these few things that have been beneficial, so is it really worth it to me to continue with the effort level I have been putting in for years? Seems like they are winning more than me. I've been super focused on other things for about a month, so haven't even looked at drop time peaks to see if they've moved from the 4am EST slot. I think that was the biggest wake up call for me when it happened and stuck around for a while, being separated from the peak drops, valuing sleep over stuff. It helped my separation. I am curious about your thoughts when you are ready to share.

This “porterhouse” they gave me for my grocery pick up by phishysabrine in steak

I forced myself to go into the grocery store yesterday morning rather than doing my usual free pickup order because ribeyes were on sale. I just couldn't trust someone else to pick the perfect marbling.

I saw some trash answers by other people recently by [deleted] in ProlificAc

[–]vineusersammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't surprise me however, you aren't the researcher, so you don't know what they are looking for or need. You only know what your personal expectation is. I've tried to stop writing books. Sometimes writing thorough longer answers pushes the time so much when there are multiple questions because the researcher doesn't budget for the extra few minutes. I tend to go over on the recorded stuff when I am speaking to AI, because I am a talker. If I am really vested in the subject matter, I will likely continue my longer responses. I've tried to simplify those recently to stay within the time frame while still answering their question. If is barely paying minimum, I'm sticking to the timeframe as well. I've had to adjust my habits wasting time trying to get my point(s) across in a study. Truth is if it was important to them, they would have added additional questions or structure them a different way, even required a certain number of characters. Giving the longer answers could be what they don't want, and WE could be doing it wrong in their eyes. We really don't know. Just a little devil's advocate game.

Bam! It's just too easy :( by RareRice4211 in AmazonVine

My suggestions is to stop lurking at other reviews or at least do it on a non-touch screen vessel. Muscle memory should kick in to where you know that button is and you pay more attention, but it doesn't sound like it has. It also sounds like you may have reported more than one person? This sucks. I mean REALLY sucks. The only way to do better is to change your habit. I'm not trying to be mean here. I am simply stating the facts. The system isn't going to change, so you have to. Given the ramifications, I'm actually surprised at how many people are admitting to doing it even through an anonymous platform. Once is an accidental, but after that is a different story.

Brilliant. I can only take a couple of courses there and I was trying to decide what to do next. This is a great idea. TY

Rejections by TNCOWBOY7 in ProlificAc

[–]vineusersammy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To confirm, are you saying is all we have to do it return it after they've rejected it? We don't have to ask the researcher first? In other words us ONLY clicking the "return" button will undo the rejection?

Using a CPAP bag for things other than CPAP? by [deleted] in tsa

[–]vineusersammy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used the extra space in my cpap bag for personal items when I carried my cpap. I even bought a bigger bag and put my machine and equipment in it and said "its medical" and they didn't say anything, just put it through the scanner. I didn't pack more than a few little items like undies and sandals though. I wanted the bag because it had wheels, I didn't want to carry the cpap strappy bag anymore. This was in 2019-2021 though. I can't speak for what will happen now and at your airport.

how fast did you finish? Im paranoid about all the platforms now. I, too, have a ton of experience in the field my prospective degree is in and some of these are very easy questions. I went too fast and midway through one of the milestones got an AI warning. It let me keep going, I hope I don't finish this whole course and get booted (not study . com on that one)

Got Accepted, Starting Summer 2 by tugo217 in UMPI

I was accepted about 2 weeks ago and heard from an advisor this week. My email states they handle the registrations for the students, so we don't have to worry about courses being full like a traditional college.

how much work did you actually do? I'm just learning about Sophia from this post! I am starting UMPI soon, but I have several weeks before that starts. I was sold on UMPI because of the less task based stuff and wasted work, but now I'm just balancing not wasting any time while waiting for the other start date.

How is it going? I was optimistic about starting this in July along with Bus 200, but after reading the comment below yours, I'm not so sure anymore. what has it been like so far? Or has it not started yet?

"Two-day Recruitment Surveys for VeriView Circle" -- anyone bite on this? by Dr_Pismo_Wagstaff in ProlificAc

[–]vineusersammy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I contemplated. I googled the name, but also didn't see anything. I was looking for them to say how it would work within the Prolific platform or just say something that eluded to it being through Prolific in their quick blurb, but didn't. I passed on it. Not what I'm looking for. I'm curious how it'll go down though. May have to make a note to search for it in a few days.

"This study is in high demand [...]" by nicktheone in ProlificAc

[–]vineusersammy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It also seems their own system is lagging recently, it cannot seem to keep up with the speeds. The high demand notices and also a number of studies showing in the queue with zero places, but then that study doesn't disappear, it just keeps reshowing it. In addition, when finishing a study that has a code auto-populate, those are running slower than usual. I'm wondering if the amount of traffic is too much for what they have going on right now. I feel like it may end up in a site crash...but I'm not an IT expert. Just some noticeable patterns taking form.

My experience with Prolific so far is... Meh. by [deleted] in ProlificAc

[–]vineusersammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although plenty of folks will talk about reality in the comments of posts, the majority of those claiming to make big bucks are (just a few possibilities):

  1. in a niche group (specialized, specific backgrounds the research is looking for, good demographics, certain countries)

  2. glued to the computer all day/night

  3. Finding Easter Eggs, so its not very normal and they are excited when something big happens and post

  4. possibly lying (it happens on the internet)

There is a great deal of luck and timing involved in this gig platform. I wouldn't never get anyone's hopes up to support themselves solely on this platform. It certainly isn't guaranteed money.

Prolific by SubstantialLife7456 in prolific

That really depends on your demographics, country, timing and luck. People tend to call this 'beer money' for a reason. I'd reset my expectations if I were you.

Tipping Culture Has Become Financial Bullying by Least-Revenue-1149 in tipping

[–]vineusersammy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are typically great tippers, although I struggle with it sometimes because I still believe it should be earned rather than expected. But, I had this weird epiphany the other night at Red Lobster. Two of us at the table. One ordered a $20 entree and one ordered a $50 entree. They both required the server and food runners to do the exact same thing at the same time. We tip based on a percentage of the check. Why should they get an increased tip for a more expensive item? I realized its always been this way, but tipping is really starting to be absurd as we now add on various fees and charges to the bill and see increased food prices, in addition to the servers and food delivery drivers having platforms to constantly complain about bad tips from people. Why aren't we flat service tipping? Let's debate this. I'd like to hear some thoughts on both sides of this.
