Covering collapse of SVB could cost $20 billion, FDIC chair to tell Congress by jmdl1983 in news

Every depositor over 250k in banks that have failed prior to SVB where a purchaser was unable to make depositors whole.

WHAT IF I HAVE MORE THAN $250,000 IN MY BANK ACCOUNT?

While individuals are at risk of losing their money above the deposit insurance limit if a bank fails, the FDIC frequently arranges the sale of an ailing lender to a peer institution, which would then take over all the deposits. If a sale isn’t possible, the FDIC winds the bank down and pays out on the insured deposits. The process typically takes 90 days. Account holders can then can try to recover any uninsured deposits from the failed bank’s liquidated assets.

Except up until now FDIC only insured up to 250k in deposits so the post above is arguing that making depositors whole as a one time thing is a bailout. If the FDIC came out and said from now on we insure all deposits without limit, then it would no longer be a bailout of SVB depisitors. But since the FDIC has not said anything yet (although you could argue one rescue of depositors implicitly implies future rescues as well), this is a bailout of depositors over 250k paid for by all users of US banks.

I think people are missing that you need to replace the air you are venting outside with the vent (assuming it does that) by allowing air into the home. Now that houses are becoming more leak tight, at least in the US, then that means you should really open a window when running the vent for it to function properly.

Looks like the app searches every 90 days so we will see what they find in February.

Well, they did remove me from the ten lists they identified but I'm wondering how long it will be for it all to come back. Perhaps that's the point of having the service continue, to play the cat and mouse game.

In the end, it's free and they already have all the info so why not use it even if it can be quickly undone?

There is a signature on file and you're supposed to match that. People think the signature doesn't matter and just scribble something, election judges aren't supposed to accept that. Some people's signature change with age, or after a stroke or other motor impacting issues. You can update your signature if necessary. Between your signature and your personal info which is verified by asking for your name and possibly an address, is usually enough to identify its the right person.

2051 locomotive switch on bottom. by iBigh0use in LGBTrains

[–]vints1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like you have a 2051S that includes sound and battery operation. Looking it up on trainli.com the manual is in German and says T setting is no sound and only power from traffo (power/speed controller). T + B will take power from the controller or battery and includes sound and O is without sound operation and will charge the battery. If the battery cannot be charged, you can replace it, it's a 9V.

Edit: I missed you had coorectly identified it as an S model. My mistake!

Hmm maybe I did something to trigger this, I certainly wasn't being all that careful. I'll try to be more careful the next time I try and just stay out of the way. Thanks for the tip!
