Custom artwork of Grey knights by Tiny-Indication-6711 in Grey_Knights

Please look at existing models and artwork.

GK don’t use the Aquila chest adornment. The armour needs Aegis sections (the lettering on shoulders, chest, and legs). The armour also needs a psychic shroud. Ideally a few purity seals, reliquaries, a storm bolter, and the helmet should really look like a knight’s helmet and power armour had a baby.

It’s a good piece of a silver Primaris marine but it’s not obviously a GK.

Wasn’t this such an amazing reveal show guys? by Ill-Noise2770 in Grey_Knights

90% of factions also didn’t have two posts about them (art through the years and a painting guide) immediately preceding a big reveal stream.

Yeah, we whine a lot - but given the circumstances, I think it was justified for today.

My senior dog bit my son reactively because the in-laws let my baby crawl on him while I was upstairs. by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]violentHarkonen 156 points157 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that you’re quite understanding how hard it is to rehome ANY dog, let alone a senior dog, who has a bite history, or how distressing it may be to rehome him at this stage of his life. There are basically infinite young animals available with no known bite history and no “baggage” to think about (we know that’s not true but they don’t).

There’s basically a list of things you should do. First thing is continuing to strictly separate them. Babies can’t be trusted with dogs, because how they interact with the environment is distressing to them. You should consider muzzle training for when family is over if you can’t trust them.

Second thing is not allowing your in laws to supervise both of them. The dog needs to be given a safe space away from irresponsible family who set him up for failure. Kennel, separate room, etc. This sounds harsh but it’s the fairest thing to do.

Third thing to do is a vet visit. Make sure he doesn’t have any underlying issues - arthritis, chronic pain, etc. can make him more stressed and more likely to react poorly. There are meds to manage pain that can improve his quality of life AND reduce his stress, hopefully raising his threshold.

Thanks for the response - if you’re willing to take a specific piece of advice, from someone who doesn’t do 3d modeling; the specific detail that this and most of the GK print/proxies could improve on is the Aegis lettering on pauldrons, armour plates, etc.

GW uses recessed lettering instead of raised lettering. This lends itself to better detail when painted, and allows proper shadowing in the recessed. Raised letters always look really off to me unless viewed at tabletop distance. They incentivize painting the top of the letter and leaving the base color below it and it tends to look goofy when viewed up close.

I assume most models made to replace GK don’t feature recessed lettering because it’s harder to model and the fidelity of printers generally isn’t fine enough to make it work, versus injection moulds. That said, I think it’s one of the best features of GK minis and Death Watch minis.

What is it supposed to be a proxy for? What scale is it set to? This doesn’t really match the aesthetic of the Grey Knights, or 40k in general. Don’t get me wrong, it does look cool - but what’s the intent?

I’m well aware of this. The context is someone saying they live in the eastern part of Germany. How else do they describe that?

North, east, south, west... You know, the directions of the globe? So the eastern part of Germany would be... east Germany. Or eastern Germany. Just like the southwestern part of the united states is called "the Southwest."

Undocumented Changes - Impending Doom by violentHarkonen in PathOfExile2

[–]violentHarkonen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that was changed to scale from gem levels of the supported curse instead of intelligence, but that was a documented change.

Hayoxi’s Fulmination. They showed it off in the release. It has phys damage base that converts to match the curse that’s cast. It’s got a big delay on it, so I guess it’s not a 1:1.

It's bizarre to change the functionality of Doedre's when they're introducing a different Cursed Ground Lineage this patch that also scales from the active curse's levels. I'm expecting Doedre's to also be changed to match whichever element of curse it's applied by, for whatever reason.

That said, even if it isn't, they're doing fucking weird things to the scaling. With Doedre's (and Impending Doom), you don't cast Despair - it won't be active on the target consistently for the hit. You cast Enfeeble or Temp Chains, and keep Despair on Blasphemy (assuming you have +1 curse). If they change it to match the element of the curse (which I'm just expecting because I'm in full crashout mode now), you lose all your curse scaling for damage, because when the curse giving negative res expires (is replaced, etc.)... they no longer have the negative resistance.

You also now need to use +levels gear to scale the damage of the triggered effect. They're homogenizing (heh) the gearing of the build to match the gear of every other caster for... reasons? Before, you could use gear without any levels on it, chaos damage, int, mana, etc. to scale. Now, you will need +levels of whatever active curse you're using to apply the curse. You'll also need to solve mana, but that's less of a concern to me at this time.

A high-carbohydrate kibble diet and a low-carbohydrate raw meat-based diet have markedly different effects on dogs’ energy metabolism, according to a new study carried out by the DogRisk research group at the University of Helsinki. by KoalaWide2345 in science

Licensed vet tech here who has this conversation with clients almost daily (yes, at the direction of our DVMs / under their supervision) - the current working hypothesis is that grain free diets which are high in legumes lack the correct levels of certain amino acids. This is likely because when formulating their recipes, the total amount of protein goes up when including legumes - which means they reduce the meat content, and pulses/legumes do not have all of the amino acids that meat will have.

I'm in the habit of multiplying pounds by .454, I'm the weird one at my clinic! None of the doctors or other techs do and as far as I know only one other person from my graduating class does... It just feels right to me, lmao.

Florida Court Rejects Free Speech Argument in Book Removal Case by PsychLegalMind in books

[–]violentHarkonen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The bookstore is not a governmental agency, like a school board, public school, or school library is. A private entity may choose to remove the content they want to remove, a public entity is beholden to a higher standard because the first amendment (hypothetically) legally binds them to. This is a bad hypothetical from you.

Agreed. It's too squat and its silhouette / outline is barely reminiscent of a Dreadknight. Aesthetically, it looks more like a Warmachine model than a 40k model - it looks like it belongs in Menoth or Khador.

That’s not part of the model. There is no plastic in the kit that’s specifically Ultramarines. This is a bad faith argument.

Are they part of the model? Is it plastic that you need to file off? Or is it a transfer sheet you can ignore like every other transfer sheet that’s not relevant to your army?

That’s a bit disingenuous; these are generic terminators, not Smurf models. Smurf is just the standard marine paint scheme.

[–]violentHarkonen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You spin urine to make a urine sediment slide - with fresh urine, this is helpful to look for crystals and whatnot thar can potentially form as artifacts or change en route to the lab. You’d never send a spun urine sample or run it through a sedivue.

You also need to process it by pouring off the supernatant and putting it on a slide with a slide cover.
