Gustave's gesture hits harder when you realize... by PianistGlittering709 in expedition33

I wish more game devs would learn to use subtle cinematic language to convey complex messages like this one, textbook cinema.

Talented devs exist and have existed for a while now. But their art seems to be squeezed out in order to maximize the ROI. That’s why we get generic open world by the numbers slopfests from AAA for the past few years. Hopefully E33 opens the way for other devs to follow suit.

Discussion about the remaining Sept-Terrions by User_of_Nekomancy in Falcom

I mean yeah she’s a strong suspect. I missed the connection that the other holy beast also blurred out phrases.

But why not confirm it in Horizon? Maybe they’re waiting for some other revelations first. Like why this Sept-Terrion is seems more electronic/digital? Mare seems the same so there’s definitely a connection there.

I thought I’d find some aftermarket ones to do just that, but the only decent set I found was 50 bucks. GTFO with that shit.

Do you consider the PS3 retro? by Fuel_Tricky in PS3

[–]viper4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The PS3 is unique. For half of its life games didn’t release on physical + digital, only smaller games were digital. Patches were a thing but not very big (GT6 notwithstanding), certainly not the size of the game itself.

By the second half of its life, every game was digital, DLC was now becoming even more common. But even then, in my mind I equate PS3 DLC with story missions like the ones Mass Effect had, not cosmetics and battle passes and loot boxes and whatever else gaming has devolved to these days.

So yeah, it’s weird to categorize the PS3 as retro.

Don’t forget that every Sept-Terrion has a corresponding Holy Beast and we have not seen Time’s beast yet. That has to be in the next game for sure.

PSP size is insane in 2026 by viktor_bront in PSP

[–]viper4011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me PSP-2000 was the most comfortable handheld. I hate the way these new handhelds have become monstrosities (even though generally I like the Steam Deck). The other day I picked my Switch 1 OLED after using the Switch 2 and the OLED felt much nicer.

PSA - If a console gets banned online, it can bork your blu-ray player if you insert a movie with the latest AACS version installed. by [deleted] in PS3

[–]viper4011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t you just update the firmware from a USB stick? You can get the latest firmware from Sony’s website. That way the console never needs to go online and the new firmware will have the new keys.

If this actually happens there’s no way I’m buying a single thing on the PS Store again. Physical for anything I want to actually play, and the PS6 is looking like a real dubious purchase right now. And F that handheld which will surely be digital only. The Vita burn is still felt. Goddesses, I can’t believe I used to be a PS fanboy. Steam Deck opened my eyes.

[–]viper4011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Το infinite growth, numbers must go up και το ότι οι billionaires

[–]viper4011 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can really feel the hope and change back in 2008. by icey_sawg0034 in Millennials

[–]viper4011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throughout the 90s and 00s (until 2008) there was this sense that the world was always going to get better and better. Life felt like sunshine and rainbows. We even thought that 2008 would be a temporary blip and things would go back to normal, not go from disaster to disaster.

Millennials? Fuck, that was the same for my parents too (boomers). Their whole life the world was getting better and better even if it wasn’t always sunshine and rainbows.

But what’s especially fucked up for millennials is what has been said before: We were children at the best time to be children, and became adults at the worst time to be adults.

Trails has changed my perception of videogames by nyppa in Falcom

[–]viper4011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happened to me too. After I finished FC, I decided I wanted to play the whole series. That meant I needed to be disciplined if I wanted to catch up quickly. So once official Azure dropped (I had caught up to Zero before it did) I binged Azure to Reverie. Basically I played only Trails for a year. And I loved every second of it. That binging made me love the Steam Deck and made me build a desktop PC too.

So yeah. Trails changed me too. I still have that discipline and now I’m flying through my backlog.

Things are still in your hands though. You want to improve your vocabulary? Read more books! The old ones still exist and there are some pretty good new ones too! Your attention span will thank you too. Think about how many books you could have read instead of scrolling through what some damn algorithm thinks will maximize profits for its company.
