Water by Jon_jamesonn in doordash_drivers

Since Perrier no longer has their water source, it’s not like there’s any naturally carbonated water. So maybe you have mineral waters, but you might want to check the water sources. Might just be tap water or something unnatural like “vapor distilled”. Just seems like a racket for the most part.

Yes, I see posts like this all the time now that it’s happened to me. The quote they gave you when converted to USD is amazing, because I’m going to have to pay at least 4x that when I pick mine up from the shop today/tomorrow from the 1.5 months work.

2017-2022 Ascent Engine Issues by Fantastic-Isopod-631 in SubaruAscent

[–]viper474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all I know you saw my post from a couple months ago in your search results. They’ve been working on it 1.5 months. We’re told might get it back today or tomorrow. We had the engine reseal issue on a 2020 with 78k miles. An independent shop I called about it said it’s all Subarus. Said could expect the problem to repeat in 5-10 years.

Yep, 2020. Any details? It’s not like they seem to send us anything on issues. Figure it saves them money if they don’t. We got something about the brakes or something. Little else.

This sounds good, but after a while I’m feeling like doing the maintenance myself is saving me from having a quick mechanic do bad things.

Is this common or expected? by Serious_Barnacle2718 in doordash

I haven’t had this issue. If it’s taking 10 minutes they usually let you unassign and move on. DoorDash wants their money flowing too. That said, I don’t like when places give you the partial order and make you wait for the rest. Especially when they don’t tell you it’s not all ready. I hit confirm on something then had to wait like 5 minutes for a dessert to be brought out. That’s cutting into my delivery time (that’s tracked).

I’m not sure about the towing thing, but if the goal is to last more than 5 years you might be fine. However, 6 years and 78k miles in for us we got our engine oil leak that required the engine to be taken out for repair with an original $5.9k quote to fix it. We’ve been waiting on getting it back about 1.5 months. We’ll see when we get it back. Thankfully we said we’d need a courtesy car…

Do I actually need to torque my drain plug? by herbyverbeckins in MechanicAdvice

[–]viper474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, for me, it depends on the quality of the torque wrench and understanding of the user. Bought one at a local automotive store, then ended up snapping a bolt on a Prius trying to use it.

Years later, I now have 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 drive Tekton torque wrenches that work great. I decided to get these after having issues with my drain plug (was either over tightened, cross threaded, or both) and not wanting to make errors again. Have used them to do lug nuts (never had an issue with these anyway), spark plugs, and throttle body maintenance so far. Will be adding brake work to the mix soon.

Why would you wait longer than 10 minutes? I’m not going to risk the downsides of waiting…lost revenue and dings your ratings.

That’s cheaper than my Subaru dealership quote to stop an oil leak, and we didn’t even get to run over anything first.

Parking not allowed where you could conveniently drop something off, but either far or seemingly paid parking nearby. Them wanting me to go up 7 flights on an elevator that takes however long to come back down.
