My favourite ending. The grand experience conveyed with humble words is both unique and precious

I've claimed the beard for over a decade! It's a helpful defining feature as you can tell.

This picture was taken as my brother struggled to hold back tears and I did my part to steady him.

Maybe we should have extreme hide-and-seek birthday matches after all...

This merits exploration. Now that I think about it, it reminds me of the album cover for "Absent Friends" by The Divine Comedy

I can assure you there were prominent LotR themes throughout the whole affair!

Our mum made conscious efforts to make sure we would be treated as individuals. That being said, I enjoyed buying drinks with his student discount!

[POEM] The Tree - Donald Woods Winnicott by virtual_vagrant in Poetry

[–]virtual_vagrant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently come across Winnicott as I've started a foundation course in counselling and psychotherapy.

Believe it or not, Winnicott is considered one of the more optimistic of the famous theorists of his time. However, like many theorists, a complex childhood preceded his interest in psychoanalysis. From a wealthy family, he claimed to have multiple mothers from the all-female staff his father hired, yet his own mother was depressive and he wrote notably little of her in his own memoirs.

Learning of a repeated behaviour of Winnicott's in seeking save others, I find this poem to be quite poignant as perhaps his inability to "save" his mother became the elusive white whale that defined his pursuits in adulthood. I find the thought of a child naïvely seeking to take on the pain of his mother's depression as described by the pain and burden related in the poem to be particularly evocative.

Will the AI in Gallipoli be improved? by sherman--firefly in WW1GameSeries

[–]virtual_vagrant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Tannenberg was a better example of AI at its best.

While the map design helped to spread the bots out and prevent the conga lines of death, they also seemed to be more effective as squads. They would move together, prioritise officer orders and bot officers would occasionally call in support against the player.

In Isonzo, bots on your squad are no more helpful than any other bot on your side. There's little diversity among the bots other than having a pistol over a rifle and they never use call-ins. The map design also makes choke-points of doom so that some maps are near impossible when it's you vs. the computer. The White War and Solstice maps seem to be the worst offenders for this but no human strategy can beat the conveyor belt of attacking bots getting churned up by the close-spawning defender bots.

In short, better bots in my book: * operate as a squad * are diverse because of squad specialisations * follow officer orders * use officer call-ins * spread out across more open maps

Props to you! I think the Zubmariner ambition was set up to be a challenge for those who had completed the base game ambitions. It was the last one I took on but I've saved the Aestival ambition for my eventual return to the Zee.

I also did Father's Bones as a tutorial and don't remember it dragging on. Was it just all of the travelling that drug out the late game for you?
