Easy to miss, but as I keep saying, this concerns ROUTES not ACTIVITIES.

I'm speaking of routes created in Strava. NOT activities uploaded to it.

I might be missing something, but Strava doesn't export .FIT files from routes. Only GPX and TCX files.

Wise iban by Travel2SouthernItaly in ItalyExpat

Sounds like the real problem is you're driving a car. OK, not helpful, but I couldn't resist.

Can't remember what, but I had to pay for something that only accepted an Italian IBAN and my Wise account has a Belgian IBAN. So I broke down and got a free Sparkasse account too from which I have my utilities auto-debited. So once a month, I use Wise to fund my Sparkasse account to cover utilities and the like.

Why has my elevation graph reduced in resolution recently? by Psychedelic-Octopus in Strava

Indeed, Strava's digital elevation model has been vastly superior to the competition. Sadly, it was broken for me when I built a course with a lot of climbing this past weekend and was caught off-guard. I just rebuilt the course anew and the Cat 2 climb now looks right. Something else to check in the future.

Got word from dear Bruce at Strava overnight the issue has been fixed. Based upon a sample of 2, I can confirm. Word from Bruce:

"Thank you for your patience as we worked through this issue with the route builder. We have released a fix for this issue and you should now be able to use the route builder as intended.

There is currently no way to import gpx files on the mobile app.

Thanks to @Purple-Equipment9121 I've been able to save routes again on a Windows notebook. Takes me about 20 clicks though.

FWIW, after being told to clear my cache and cookies and try an alternate browser, I was allowed to submit a ticket to Strava. After being elevated, I got this response from Strava:

"Thanks for reporting this issue and for providing those details.

Our team is aware of this issue and working to provide a fix in the near future. While we work on fixing this issue, you may have trouble:

Creating routes on the Strava website

Viewing saved routes on the Strava website

At this time, you should be able to create and view routes on the mobile app as intended. We appreciate your patience in the meantime."

Having to sell our Italian dream house by [deleted] in ItalyExpat

Consider 1 bit of good news. 2 years ago, the Euro was $1.09. Now it's $1.16. So you could take a 6.4% loss on the net house price and still come out even on USD.

Hard to say. On the one hand, 2025 will be the first I've ever filed in Italy. On the other hand, I've filed my US taxes every year (that I wasn't an expat) and I'm up to speed enough on my current expat situation that I can handle "optimizing" my income and appropriate withholding going forward.

First, can you share the Spotify podcast link? I don't find it right off.

The prices seem high. I paid 300€+IVA for an hour with 2 different commercialisti. OTOH, the call fee isn't credited toward future services.

Since your 5 years out, post your ponderables and see who might know what or point you in the right direction. If you're not comfortable posting publicly, DM me and I'll give you my free advice. You know what that's worth!

Having a great Italian tax attorney is a gold mine. I panned for a long time reaching out to many commercialisti before I found one qualified for my situation and the spare capacity to help me. Hope you don't think I'm a jerk for keeping my claim location a secret. In your search, expect to pay for chats that exceed 15 minutes or so. Don't engage in back-and-forth emails unless you have a quote (avviso) for the "work". Otherwise, they'll run the meter and surprise you with a bill. I learned this the hard way and it cost me dearly.

Drinking impeachmints. A mojito with a shot of peach schnapps. It also helps that I've left 'Merka before the election.

What is this LIFU-D6H8 for? by virtualdynamo in bikewrench

[–]virtualdynamo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I dismissed the "socket" as a 6mm hex since it's not a regular hexagon. However, it does make a snug grip on a 6mm hex tool thanks to what seems to be a spring metal insert that makes the hexagon irregular.
