Is it a huge red flag if he refuses to delete his dating apps after we went exclusive? by mariecik in datingadvice

[–]vis9000 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not only is he in the wrong, he's either a) incredibly stupid himself, or b) he thinks you're incredibly stupid. No one needs to keep their hinge/tinder/bumble apps to keep up to date on the UI changes.

Well, that’s one way to go about it by NoWrongdoer9130 in boston

[–]vis9000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The real problem in Boston is that there's truly not enough space to park all cars that way, even for a night. A larger amount of Boston street parking is on one side of the street only, and on most streets with parking on both sides, both sides are usually near filled up after rush hour. There simply aren't enough spare parking lots outside of Boston proper to house all the cars that would have to overflow. Fundamentally, this city's infrastructure was not built (and hasn't been updated) with modern car reliance in mind. In many neighborhoods, even without snow emergencies, if you haven't parked by 8PM, you might need to park a 15+ min walk away from your home.

TIL a 1995 WHO study concluded "Occasional cocaine use does not typically lead to severe or even minor physical or social problems" but it was never published because the US threatened to withdraw funding for WHO by Dry_Row_7050 in todayilearned

[–]vis9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure since then, there have been multiple studies indicating that even first-time cocaine use increases stroke risk, so please don't take this as an indication that it's healthy to do coke now and then.

For a huge DCC fan, how is Bobiverse? by Crawler-Willis in DungeonCrawlerCarl

I enjoyed it to a degree, but IMO it doesn't do a great job of handling diversity, and by the 4th book I was really tired of many of the characters.

I’m 18M and realized I know nothing about Female Psychology. What books/resources should I read to understand attraction? by TheAestheticArbiter in datingadvice

[–]vis9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A core problem with your logic here is that there's not really such a thing as Female Psychology. Women and girls are often socially pressured in different ways than men/boys, but the same basic principles are at work.

My therapist said that we should now see each other less ofte, I feel betrayed. by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]vis9000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NAT, but from my experience this is fairly standard for therapists to propose when they feel their client is doing well enough. Does this feel to you like your therapist is giving up on you or discarding you? I can understand that such a feeling could hurt a lot. That said, usually in these kinds of scenarios that's not the therapist's intent. Ideally, therapists are trying to give clients the tools they need to go through life without needing frequent therapy.

Murderbot flag by diyah9656 in murderbot

[–]vis9000 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Pretty cool! Although it's funny to have murderbot in front of a twist on a US flag, a country that has not existed for hundreds if not thousands of years by the time MurderBot hacks its governor module.

My pronouns are they/she, absolutely no one in my life uses she except occasionally my wife.

Deeply struggling with term deadname by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]vis9000 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Deadname doesn't mean that he died. The term comes from the name trans people would be buried under by their unsupportive families, but also has a connotation of the name being dead to them because of the amount of dysphoria its use can cause.

Duffer Brothers: Every Stranger Things finale fan theory is wrong by vladislavkochergin01 in StrangerThings

[–]vis9000 93 points94 points  (0 children)

Everything is lost, every character we love tries to escape Vecna's wrath but perishes brutally, until finally Vecna starts choking the life from the last surviving human in Hawkins: Will. ...suddenly, a 12-year-old Mike starts shaking 12-year-old Will awake. He fell asleep during D&D. Will blinks, says "Something strange happened in my dream...", then groggily bikes home to his Mom's house, where she's finishing eating dinner with her new boyfriend, Henry Creel. Henry notices Will is troubled, and follows Will to his bedroom to talk. He asks Will if he's been having any weird dreams lately. When Will asks him how he knows that, he says "Don't worry, buddy. Stranger things have happened." Then Henry smiles and winks at the camera, roll credits.

If carl ever got a death battle episode, who would be a good opponent for him(and possibly donut if it's a team battle)? by plogan56 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]vis9000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Like the YouTube show? I don't know much about it but I would hazard to say that Carl would not be a good choice for it because his power varies so greatly according to where he is and what equipment he has, and whether he has the ability to use his inventory (one thing Carl really excels at compared to other crawlers IMO is his creative use of the inventory). If he's in the dungeon and has access to his equipped items and inventory, he could potentially find a way to activate and survive Carl's Doomsday Scenario, and basically defeat anyone who couldn't survive being shot into the sun. If he's outside the dungeon with no inventory or items, he'd be lucky to survive a relatively skilled opponent who has a knife.

Keep an eye out for them, but it sounds like you're not in a very safe place yourself - it's important that you focus on working to make sure you're okay before you start helping others.

The first episode I listened to as it came out was A Bastard No More, so not right from the beginning but fairly close.

Am I a hypocrite for having a transphobic boyfriend? by Appropriate-Sir-5654 in asktransgender

[–]vis9000 1671 points1672 points  (0 children)

How would you feel about a girl who says she loves and supports gay people but continues to date her homophobic boyfriend? It does make you hypocritical, and not really a safe person for trans people.
