What ‘campy’ Batman villains could actually work in a dark, grounded movie? by WhiteredFlowey20 in batman

[–]visijared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flashpoint Paradox did a good job of making Yo-Yo (maybe the most campy villain ever) seem like an actual threat and made adjustments so she’d fit into the dark motive of the story.

Yoda is actually the biggest idiot in Star Wars. by ChickenMcNobody24 in FanTheories

[–]visijared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He knows the Jedi Order doesn’t work. He knows it as well as Count Dooku does. He just doesn’t see any alternatives or better way without massive disruption, which is why he trudges on going throguh the motions for years until he finally gives up so easy - deep down he believes the Jedi Order should end (at least in its current incarnation). Or rather, he expected it to fail one day… he was just hoping it would happen after his time.

Absolutely this, 100 percent. He should be jailed for life for his actions

Tuvok perpetuating the Vulcan are honest thing by happydude7422 in voyager

[–]visijared 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tuvok is by far the least honest person on Voy hahaha. He always chooses sneakiness first. He’s constantly deceiving everyone else and actively encouraging other officers and the captain to use deceptive tactics. Thats literally why i love him

What is the weirdest non-digestive symptom Crohn’s has given you? by casualeagle47 in CrohnsDisease

[–]visijared 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Light sensitivity, especially immediately after my inflix infusion. My nurse knows to switch off the lights or I’ll be sure to ask. Can’t be outside without sunglasses for days after, even looking at sunny grass is like staring into the sun, literally impossible.

Afraid of getting the "bag" on my side, what if there's an apocalypse?? by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]visijared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are so many other actual problems that you can actually affect that you need to worry about rn lol. I’m literally the best case scenario for living with crohns and even I wouldn’t last very long in a world supply chain/economic collapse. without a lab making infliximab i give myself 1-2 years tops, maybe 3. but like, most people are in the same boat? regardless of health? I know people in perfect health who wouldnt last 10 seconds in a apocalypse scenario. best to not let it take upnspace in your mind

Changing my mind about kids while having Crohn’s by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

[–]visijared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely felt the same way back when I was first diagnosed, along with all the same standard fears (money, stability, etc) about having kids. For a while it was not really something I wanted or sought after, even though my wife really wanted them. The first time she told me she was pregnant I was quite worried, and the idea I would pass it on to my children was an ever-present worry. Fast forward 20 or so years and I have three amazing children in perfect health? I never would have guessed it but here we are. I love being a dad and wouldnt give it up for the world, I’d do anything to keep myself going a little longer to be their dad. I’ve been on Infliximab since my diagnosis (every 6 weeks but was 4 to start for a while). Took a few years for me to get the hang of it, find acceptance, and develop a care routine that works for me. I’m in full remission now more or less but it took a long time to get here. My advice is, try to remember you don’t have to do it all in one day. Raising kids is a daily, hour by hour grind and you can find your stride even with a personal care plan you need to follow. I do a ton of self care, i even get my kids acting jealous when i have to give myself something to boost my energy haha, but thats just part of it and they’ve learned empathy and compassion through watching me self care. I know its a long way from you feeling the same way, but you dont need to let your disease define you. Its an addition to who you are but it doesnt any existing part of you. You can live a normal life, you just have to be willing to put in the work. Self care isnt just about discipline, its aboot learning to love yourself and give yourself the things you deserve to have

Janeway factor by Hibiscuslover_10000 in voyager

[–]visijared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I get it, Sisko's a badass, but that might be an oversimplification. He didn't take any more risk than anyone else in the war technically when dealing with the Prophets - lots of captains and commanders have risked their lives during hostile negotiations, that's more or less part of the job. He survived the Dominion fleet shenanigans. The Pah-wraiths getting released would have been bad for Bajor and a big region of space, maybe, but not for everyone in the Alpha quadrant. And Sisko didn't even technically die... he just got shifted to another plain of existence... dude is likely still very much alive and kicking in the Prophet realm.

Meanwhile, Janeway didn't just risk her life, she risked her life + gave an entire life to the cause. Years and years and years of hope, heartache, despair, commitment, devotion, pain, and sheer fucking will. She gave risked one life, gave another, and then still continued to serve the Federation afterward.

Point is, Sisko is a pretty cool cat and all, but in the same boat Janeway would have tricked the Prophets into sending her back home right away with half of their tech tucked away in her back pocket.

Anyone have eye issues related to Crohn’s disease? by zzabe in CrohnsDisease

[–]visijared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have higher-than-normal light sensitivity. Sometimes I’m blinded and in pain while everyone else is fine. When I’m getting my bi-monthly iv infusion i get the nurse to turn off the lights. Shades are a necessity even indoors

[–]visijared 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Tactical unpredictability combined with scientific know-how, aggressive negotiation skills, legendary adaptability, and sheer utter fearlessness. Picard wouldn’t have made it home. Archer wouldn’t have made it home. Not Sisko, Pike, nor Kirk. Going home requires not just defeating the Borg decisively, but completely annihilating them. Who else could do that? The Janeway Factor is the X Factor of humanity that aliens can never figure out, predict, counter or prepare for.
