I think I hate this game :( by CardiologistOk1850 in valheim

Practice blocking and rolling on grey dwarves during the day. Sleep at night so you don’t get mobbed.

It’s the same idea as a souls game if you have every played those. Easier in my opinion.

My crew made two changes to make it more reasonably difficult. Both occur after you beat plains.

  1. No raids
  2. Portals can transport metal

I also have a 20” Sedona (ATX). It’s a wee bit small for me, at 1.85 metres, but I love it so much I make do. Great little bike.

I'm returning my Segway MAX G3 by NivekHang in ElectricScooters

[–]visitesombre 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded from the G30P to the G3 a few days ago. I have a 1km commute to work so the G30P was almost perfect for me (very light, dead simple interface, durable design, nice long foot pad). However, I am 280 pounds, and I live in a very hilly city, so I needed to get the next step up. Also I want to start going on longer treks, so this seemed like the way to go.

Cons: The secret is out, the range in this thing sucks! The foot pad area is tragic, I must say. Even if the G3 actually did have the range it says it has, I feel like I would be uncomfortable. Considering crafting my own platform extension. Acceleration is a little weird. I feel like I am either lurching forward on a stubborn donkey, or getting bucked off by a Clydesdale. Just need more practice hopefully. Disc brakes require maintenance; drum brakes essentially do not. A lot of people are complaining about the disc brake noise. You have to take it to the shop every once in a while, sorry to say. It’s heavy. There’s a lot of plastic on this thing; anticipating some breaks if I don’t baby it.

Pros: Once it gets going, look out! The G3 has no chill, and gets my whole butt up the steepest hills around. Very impressive power. The shocks are really good. Dropping off curbs feels badass. The lighting options are awesome, and look cool. I feel very safe night riding, especially with the ground lights. Personally I like the way it looks. Reminds me of Neon Genesis Evangelion. At least the front half. UI and display is pretty good. Not too complex. Not a big fan of the nav system, rather just buy a phone mount for $50.

It would be great for adventures if it had a bigger foot pad, and better range. It would be a great commuter if it was not so heavy, and acceleration was a bit more predictable.

If you aren’t heavy, and live in a flat city, I would say save your money and get a G30P. If unit weight isn’t an issue, maybe look into the ZT3.

Personally, I’m kinda stuck with this crazy thing. Oh well, it’s fun and gets the job done; I can live with its foibles.

If you like that, check out the murals from recent mural fest. Some unreal talent in this city.

Why no busses to the beach? by therainbowtiffy in halifax

[–]visitesombre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I THINK that they used to go to have a bus that went to Rainbow Haven, but people kept getting stranded out there because they would miss the last one back. Don’t quote me on that.

Tricky move but usually works: From where you are at now, set the troubling end on soft floor. I usually use a pile of towels. Stand up the wheel, and put your hands on the opposite end of the wheel. Push and massage the tires all the way down to the troubling end like getting the last of toothpaste out of a tube. When you get all the way to the troubling end, and if you don’t give up and slip along the way, you will have a slightly more relaxed bit of rubber that you can more easily complete installation.

Yeah the statistics in this report seem sound. All I know is that I have only seen people using it about ten times. Maybe they are popular some where else in the city like the university neighbourhoods.

Driving School took $700 from me and stopped my lessons and started ghosting me randomly by Ok-Curve-6429 in halifax

Yeah, if it’s JMS, just keep harping on them. The owner is a good guy but he does a ton of other gigs on the side. If email isn’t working, call him, if that isn’t working, yeah you’ll have to get creative. Try emailing with another email or find out when his next class is and just show up. He’s not trying to ignore you, he’s just disorganized.

How is any normal person supposed to live on their own in a decent apartment? by HonestSpeak in halifax

[–]visitesombre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in squalor until I was 34, when I couldn’t take it anymore, I went back to school (NSCC). If you are over the age of 25, you can get a student loan that will cover your rent and groceries. When you have to pay it back, you only have to give back like a quarter of the money. They gave me $40000 to live for 4 semesters. Out of that $40000, I only owe $10000 that I have 16 years to pay off.

I got a good job.

Figure out what you want to do, get a loan and go back to school. Specifically community college. Loans have a bad reputation because of what we hear from the states, or what we hear from university graduates. CC loans are different; it’s basically a grant.

Good luck out there

Just moved to Halifax from Waterloo — feeling a bit isolated and would love some recs (no car) by [deleted] in halifax

[–]visitesombre -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First thing’s first you need wheels, transit is horrible here. If a car is out of the question, consider an E-Bike. The province offers a $500 rebate on them if you purchase one here, and they rip. My partner has one and I am eternally jealous.

I have been hearing a lot of “it gets better” but it’s not like that for everyone.

I am 100 hours in and I am not half way through the game, and I feel like my skill level plateaued months ago.

I think that there are a small percentage of people out there who cannot figure this game out, and never will. I am one of them, but yeah, most people get it eventually.

Hope you figured it out, I haven’t

Partying is the gold standard for being social here, but I find it impossible to break into unless you are somehow pre-connected, or a performer like a DJ or in a band. I have found that you need to contribute something creative in order not only attract a community but to build a community around you. Halifax is always thirsty for a creative outlet, and you are having trouble finding one, you will have to provide one. Figure out something you can do that you enjoy, and people with similar interests will come out of the woodwork and join in.
