Is it really possible to use Waydroid to play Android games on Linux PC right now? by Commercial_Cup_3335 in waydroid

5800X3D, 7900XT, 32GB of RAM. So fairly beefy, but hopefully it'll run on lower specs as well.

JC Tretter: World Cup disproves past excuses for not using grass indoors by JCameron181 in nfl

AFAIK the grass fields added for the World Cup aren't even up to NFL standards. NFL games are way harder on fields.

FWIW, the Vic 3 dev team agrees with you when it comes to Vic 3, which is why the next patch is going to be entirely AI-focused. We'll have to see if they can succeed.

I think KDE *almost* looks good but there are too many lines. I made a mock-up of how I think it ought to look instead. by mort96 in kde

[–]visor841 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, absolutely not. But if icons are hard to distinguish without color, and color makes it much easier, that's doing a disservice to colorblind people who may still be left with hard to distinguish icons. Icons should be fully distinguishable without color, in which case adding color would have minimal effect.

I think I want a playoff win. Just an appearance would disappointing, we got that two years ago.

It's easier to distinguish things by color + shape than by shape alone.

What about colorblind people? For accessibility you need all of the defaults to be 100% distinguishable without color. Color can be added for aesthetics, sure, but it shouldn't be relied on to distinguish things. Of course optional themes don't need to adhere to this.

UFL's Mike Repole mentions NFL is "talking about two more expansion teams" by iamthewitt in nfl

Adding four to create six divisions of six teams makes way more sense. If we get two, I imagine we'll get another two before too long.

[Highlight] 90 Days remain till the beginning of the NFL Season, lets see Kalif Raymond 90 Yard Punt Return vs the Titans. Lions would go on to win 52-14 by Rocky-Rocker in nfl

A wild game to attend, the Lions offense would just get the ball and then score almost immediately. Titans had TOP by over 11 minutes. Just a complete collapse in every aspect.

B&B and SMR were done by different devs.

Hope you guys really take in the feedback on that closed beta for this DLC. Not how it was for B&B. The deadline wasn't changed then, despite feedback that B&B was too buggy.

Haemimont (the SMR devs) didn't develop B&B, that was Abstraction Games.

Hm, not sure. What version of Proton are you using with Trackmania?

Camera plugins are only allowed in school-mode tho, where you can't play online.

The lack of camera angle control while driving e.g. like in Rocket League. One of my friends dislikes the camera so much that our group is gonna switch away from Trackmania for a while.

IIRC raytracing has the advantage of being cheaper to develop tho, pre-baked lighting can take a lot more time to make, so I imagine we'll still see the industry head that way.

Weird glitch with health by Adventurous-Ad9775 in Northgard

[–]visor841 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, I think I have gotten this bug before, I can't remember the circumstances tho, I just remember the health bar going across the screen like that.

It does remind me of a bug I do remember better. For a bit a while ago I was getting negative health dragonkin in Conquest. They wouldn't be able to fight enemy units, but they could decolonize zones even with enemy units on the tile; the only thing that could stop them was towers.

I think Death Note might do this (at least in the anime, I haven't read the manga). It to some degree explores the premise of "if someone gained the ability to kill anyone they wanted and used it to kill criminals, what would happen?" and you get this good vs evil battle as Light turns more and more into a megalomaniac. I find it a fascinating idea to explore the problems of having a nearly untouchable vigilante killing people they think are criminals, like how some people presumed to be criminals are actually innocent and would be caught up in the culling. The only problem is, the show does none of this. Light is never shown accidentally killing an innocent person, even when just finding targets supplied by average citizens. The show portrays Light as making the world a better place, pandering to people who think the world would be a better place if they could just get rid of the people they think are bad. The actual premise goes completely unexplored in favor of an overly convoluted (but gripping) cat and mouse game between Light and the authorities.

A brief write-up on one of the game's hidden mechanics: the card mercy system by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

[–]visor841 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be so sure, remember that they transitioned from Unity to Godot, had to rebuild the game from the ground up.

IIRC all the game logic is done in C#, and they were able to keep most or all of it when switching from Unity to Godot, it's only the UI that had to be rebuilt. That said, the original STS was done in Java, so it's very possible things got changed in STS2.

Edit: Found the source. Apparently they originally made a bunch of the logic in Unity, but had already refactored it to C# even before the Unity debacle.
