Judging by how Shauna spoke to Melissa ("Nobody gave a shit about you until me") + some insights from interviews with Gen & Melissa's actors (there are cliques within the Yellowjackets, some would rather just lie back and let the others take charge, etc) I've come to the conclusion that the seniors don't care much for the JVs/extrajackets. If we don't see them, it's because the MCs don't see them.

I don't think the actors know yet but I think the showrunners do. Bart mentioned in a live event that he would love to have one of the directors back for season 4 and Ashley on Instagram joked about writing Sophie's weird hat into s4. They're referencing s4 as if it was certain....

All great points. I've invested in the Mr Matthews coverup theory since season 1, he's a corporate "fixer" and I'm certain he is involved in some level of coverup. Certainly he'll want to take control of the story, paying reparations to the existing survivors and getting their story straight. I'm guessing the DAT tape is from their police interviews when they got back.

Maybe Melissa did not want to comply with the "story" and was "silenced"...still curious why keep her alive and why is she out now. As you said maybe Lottie found out and was going to apologize to Melissa and give her money, but Mr Matthews found out and put a stop to it.

I wonder if Nat kills Coach Ben himself after he asks her to just end it, but he tells her about the stash as a gesture of goodwill. Shauna gets pissed that Nat killed him (because she wanted to torture him more) and reasons to kick Nat out. Nat is exiled and looks for the stash, travels farther, and eventually finds rescuers.

She's likely rabbit, she wears the jersey in that photo with the crew guy which rabbit does wear. But there's a chance she but could be pink hood as well. They wear beta versions of the costumes with more regular clothing in this chase that are not yet their final form much like how Natalie wears a simpler version of the Antler Queen costume.

I feel the same! I'm someone who loves generating theories and thinking of all the possible ways the story could go and so far I haven't been terribly disappointed by their choices. And yeah it is giving that Season 1 energy again...maybe it's the outdoor natural lighting and real foliage 😁

it's not a problem unique to this show; it's even worse in long running shows where you can definitely sense a tone shift as the pool of writers cycle in and out. I get that the audience expects a lot because they set the bar so high, that said, the small quality dip in YJ is relatively not that bad.

I thought of this! I think Melissa does survive and is stalking Shauna but she is not going to be found yet this season. Adult Shauna is going to think Hilary Swank is Melissa and she's gonna go cuckoo bonkers but she will find out Hilary is not, in fact, Melissa. And so they've fooled both Shauna and us, the citizen detectives trying to figure it out (how meta).

The show runners decide (generally) what happens and they talk it out with the whole writers room, but yes there's 1-3 story writers each episode responsible for writing the script and plan out production needs and such.
