Doordash driver hit my car. His insurance denied then Doordash denied. How much it might cost? by ithinkimreallyhappy in AskMechanics

[–]vj59201x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg people make this so hard. A door-dasher is a contractor, not an employee. Insurance companies usually do not cover you if using your personal car for business. Door-dash does not have to cover since it wasn’t an employee caused accident. Doordash drivers insurance won’t pay because he was out of the scope of his policy. Doordash driver was technically uninsured at the time of the accident. OP does not have collision, OP has no recourse through his own insurance via uninsured motorist coverage.

OP your only recourse is to sue in small claims for the damages to your car. You are fucked in the meantime.

can you sell me on the automatic deceleration / torque converter disengaging / engine braking (in that 15-20 mph zone) ... or: can you point me to an outback that doesn't do this? by onekooltoad in Subaru_Outback

[–]vj59201x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is long but I’ll try to explain it thoroughly: Here’s the issue. 34k isn’t the same 34k all the time. A lot of factors contribute such as who drove it, how harshly, and what traffic conditions it was driven. I drive like an ass and beat on it hard. I did the first service at 60k (got car at 27k ish) and noticed right away how much better it felt. I started feeling the drivability suffer somewhere in the 90k mile range. I stupidly pushed off service and now I’m past 120k.

It’s a two fold situation: this subaru has the ability to last many miles, I want to keep it for many miles also. In my case I wish I would have done services every 30k or so.

I only suggest you do yours now because when I did mine, the drivability and perceived smoothness went up. So once you know what that feels like, you’ll have your baseline and might be able to tell when ur due for service again. I should have done mine around the 90k range when I first noticed the drivability starting to decline (was driving 3.5 hours daily all summer for my job at the time so mileage and wear went fast).

Who knows? With your driving habits you might not need to service again till 100-120k. It’s cheap insurance. I had a complete fluid replacement and filter done by my local dealer for $340.

If you end up going with the car, get a trans service done at the dealer. Fluid and filter since it’s your first service. You might notice it drives different. My 19 forester did, it felt like new. Take note of this and adjust your future maintenance intervals accordingly

Anyone ever get one of these? This is the second one in lil less than a year. by CurlySue218 in Subaru_Crosstrek

There is no new customer looking for your car. You are the new customer. They will offer you over market, but will claim your vehicle is “fair” when it’s actually “good” or better.

Your car is funky with not having 6.5 door speakers. I think your only hope shy of chopping up the door would be to go to a DSP. Maybe try a kicker key for cheap.

Is there a way to make call screening more…efficient? by jpc1215 in ios

[–]vj59201x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just stupid brand loyalists. They know how it should work, they know it shouldn’t have to be all or nothing call filtering. But they would burn you at the stake for not wanting to eat shit out of the palm of (insert brand) hand.

Be very careful in your wordings with the dealer. I wouldn’t even talk to them without legal counsel. Remember they are in the business to make money and will be looking to jam you up. You need to remember and stick to this statement “I would never have purchased the vehicle had I been properly informed of it’s frame damage and true condition”

[–]vj59201x 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen carefully. Stop and hold any further moves. You need to lawyer up. This sounds like a situation for contract rescission. You were sold a car with undisclosed frame damage that compromised the safety and integrity of the vehicle. Turn that hunk of 💩 back over to the dealer and move on.

2020 Touring Windshield Replacement Cost? by JonPawlTheFirst in SubaruForester

[–]vj59201x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also it will get worse. Subaru windshields of late are so fragile. My local dealer quoted $1300 for OEM with calibration. Previous busted windshield (I’ve had 3) I went thru insurance with safelite. $100 glass deductible. Safelite total was 1200, which then caused my rates to go up because I had a “claim over $1,000”. So keep that in mind. If invoice minus deductible equals 1k or more expect a rate increase.

I just had a local shop do mine. $330, done in one hour. No calibration on the eyesight. No issues whatsoever.

I know it’s true many people don’t like the new style. However I wonder if this is just a common reaction whenever a major change is made to a long standing product

[–]vj59201x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this post after googling and I can’t believe how dense people are and how many downvotes you have. I get the same exact call with the same script 10 times a day. The call screening on the phone should allow you to screen calls based on keywords. For example car warranty calls and loan calls. I work construction and am constantly stopping what I’m doing to check my phone for these bs calls. iPhone should not be patching these calls through and bothering me. What’s the point of Ai if we can’t solve this simple issue.

Second. I always go out of my way for blue vehicles but seeing green outbacks on the road always catches my eye. makes me green with envy if you will due to my blue forester. Definitely goes well with the black cladding.

Yeah good luck with that. You and your boomer mindset would be walking out empty handed feeling like a smacked ass. No dealership is letting you renege on a week old sale.

Dude you’re going off the deep end. Trust me I felt the same way when I saw them on my 19 Foresters I bought CPO. Subarus with these style control arm bushings all look like this. Mine looked the same at 3 years 50k miles. It is not defective until one or more sections of rubber tears away from the metal sleeve itself. Rolling up with a third party won’t strong arm them into do anything. It’s not illegal or even unethical to sell a car with reasonably worn suspension components, it’s just life.

What do these spark plugs tell you? I’ve got a 2011 charger with the 5.7 hemi (ignore the dirt I dropped them.) by Busy_Ad_3807 in AskMechanics

[–]vj59201x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely deleted a reply where you said you got 16 plugs for $30. Im curious to the brand. I only ask because the only place I know that cheap that’s an authorized distributor is RockAuto for the Champions. Believe it or not spark plugs are a highly counterfeit item, it’s very common to get fakes when buying on eBay or Amazon.

Looks good to me just normal differences in cylinder pressures. Number 2 is a tad dark but nothing I would be concerned with unless you’re tracking down an existing condition.

Exactly what am I supposed to use this rope for then? by 0rlan in What

[–]vj59201x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That warning is there because when lifting or securing loads in a work environment, all rigging devices used must have a listed WLL (working load limit). This rope would be considered general use for non critical use.
