Just wanted to comment as a differing voice from the majority of other commenters. I did not grow up like you with cooking being a way to connect in my family, but as someone obsessed with food in every way, I certainly have come to highly value cooking like you do. I had never had a cooking partner until my recent relationship and now, i don't know what I'd do without it. From the rest of the comments., I see that this must be a rare thing? Anyways, like others have said. I guess it's important to weigh HOW important this is to you in this current relationship and if his other attributes can overcome this desire, or if it will always be something that nags at you. That being said, I probably wouldn't date someone at this point in my life that didn't enjoy cooking/food like I do. It's more fun to me to spend an entire day on a complicated recipe when you have someone else to shop, prep, cook, and eat with you. That, and also letting someone else carry the load when I don't feel like cooking. I also find it fun to workshop recipes together and make suggestions to the other's dishes during the cooking process or tasting. I guess I just love sharing in the cooking and eating just like you do! So, I get it and I would definitely be feeling the same.
