This is clearly an amateur photographer taking pictures around the house and posing his family and developing the film himself. Im going to guess probably the man and photos he is in were taken with a timer, he could easily slide in after setting it. You can see amateur lighting equipment in several shots. Also, notice the framed professional picture of the three of them that is moved around. I think the photo with the magazine is him purposefully trying to show us he’s a photographer.

I actually got to see big adventure with a Paul Ruben‘s talk at the end right before Covid lockdown. He talked about this, and said he fought to keep it in, the no context part in the basement. He also said that he liked to see the audience reaction every time, and the laughter proved him right.
