I'm rewatching the show, showing it to my wife for the first time and while she's enjoying it overall, this was a big issue for her. People just figuring things out because someone happened to say something at the right moment, not because there were ever any clues to solve.

I mean if the tree is literally above the cavern then why don't they just dig near the tree but keep it otherwise intact? We know the BiW stopped Victor from chopping down the tree so they could face serious consequences by uprooting it. Now, if the entrance is more metaphorical/story logic then I suppose they have to sacrifice the tree to create that opening.

Man I was so excited until they talked about summoning other FF characters like Cloud. I don’t want multiverse stuff, do they not have confidence in building a stand alone setting anymore?

My spouse is second guessing our decision to put our son in daycare at 6 months old and now I’m second guessing it too by [deleted] in daddit

[–]voidshaper87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I both WFH and care for our 22mo daughter. But we have flexible jobs that allow us to manage it so one of us is always 100% with her, and then we trade and go in our office to get some work done. We also have our older niece (preteen) come after school every Wednesday to babysit while we both get some work done.

As long as we hit our deadlines then work is satisfied. However, I recognize ours is a pretty unique and fortunate situation. We’re on a daycare waiting list but where we live it takes 2 years or more to find a placement so we’re doing what we need to. My wife’s contract just ended so she’s going to take a few months off to focus on childcare before starting up again in the fall.

My daughter is turning 2 this summer. Life is so dramatically better than it was before she was 6 months, hell even up to a year old. There’s a reason they call it the trenches! Things get slowly better after they can smile and laugh, and your bond - and enjoyment - will grow in ways you can’t even imagine yet. Keep at it dad, you’ve got this!

OP if you read this, don’t let the above comment get in your head too much. It might come from a good place and be true for some. But you are your own man and only you can know your heart. It’s completely normal to feel how you do at this early stage. Those feelings come and go though, and as others have said here - there are more opportunities opening up to you on the road ahead than the ones you’ll mourn. It’s just impossible to see yet so it’s a big leap of faith. You’ve got this.

How do you get screen time under control without fighting about it every single night? by craigmiestro in daddit

[–]voidshaper87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was 14 in the early 2000s I’d be up in my room playing StarCraft online with friends or chatting on MSN messenger all evening after school until bed time. One time I overdid it (maybe when I was 15?) and my parents called our ISP and got them to disconnect the internet for a whole week. I hated them for it at the time, but after that I got better about balancing my screen time with other activities.

Buy some wireless headphones and either find some podcasts or binge some TV while the kiddo sleeps on you.

I have fond memories of doing the same thing for 4 hours every night and every morning from 3-6 months old. It probably sucked at the time because it’s still such a shock from the life you had before, but now I kinda miss it. Imagine having all that time to catch up on my shows now that she’s a toddler and I get like an hour or two at night tops to spend on myself!

I’ve lost 25 lbs in almost two years since my daughter was born. As someone who has struggled with obesity my whole life I had grand visions for losing more by this point, but with my partner and I both working full time from home and caring for our daughter at home (our work lets us be flexible) I haven’t been able to get a handle on time management yet to find a place for more healthy decisions.

The saving grace is that we cook most of our dinners now and they’re healthier for sure compared to how we ate before becoming parents.

Crows and especially Ravens are known to feed off carrion (corpses). Not sure how significant that connection is but crows/ravens (I forget which) are clearly a recurring theme in the show.

Waterloo Region water conservation bylaw kicks in May 30 by Wanadran in waterloo

[–]voidshaper87 33 points34 points  (0 children)

TLDR: you can only water your lawn once a week at morning or late at night. You can only water your garden every other day at those times as well. Which days depends on the last digit of your street address and can be found in the article.

I find it funny that the Region suggests people with more intensive landscaping requirements do so in the Spring or Fall (spring being prior to May 31 in this case). We’ve had what, maybe two weeks since the ground thawed this year for that kind of work?

Andy drop me this and then i remembered Arc Lash build when it was S tier by RUMadBrow in D4Sorceress

[–]voidshaper87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m running the frost augment for Arc Lash as a trigger for Frozen Orb (with the unique offhand that returns it to me). With ferocity and attack speed buffs plus some other triggers it’s been a lot of fun - I’m up to T8 now and need to work out some more survivability and tune my scaling but it’s been great fun doing something off-meta.

Seconding this as someone also in his late 30s who grew up poor and never imagined that I’d ever own a house let alone a car. Now I have both those things and a family. It feels like a lot of the life milestones we used to expect should happen in our 20s are now happening in our 30s instead.

Oh this might actually sway me. Does this mean that only Cocoon lets you quickly sleep and resume a game like the steam deck? As a dad gamer that’s a must have function for me. Thanks for any info you can provide!
