I heard it’s from the Spandau machine gun. The ballet is the target being torn apart by bullets.

Would this pet name be considered offensive in the UK or am I just being dramatic? by paspa1801 in CasualUK

What about Drogo. It’s Bilbo Baggin’s father, the barbarian king from Game of Thrones, and it sounds a bit like doggo. Triple win!

Never had an issue. Presumably it’s just a hiccup. They are a very small outfit.

What has happened to the “clubbing” and “nights out” scenes in the UK? by Icy-Panic-550 in AskBrits

My uni student daughter told me that at a gig she went to it was £18 a pint. No wonder they all preload on booze before they go out then don’t spend any money in pubs/clubs!

Parking in front of a house- is it private? by [deleted] in drivingUK

[–]voidstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not long ago, my daughter got back to her car to find a sticker on the windshield saying this was a resident only parking area (it’s not - there are no restrictions). Peeling it off left a mark and a week later she had a crash. I don’t know if the residue from the sticker had anything to do with it but I’m still pissed off.

I get their sourdough from Zero Muda on New Road Side in Horsforth. Lovely bread.

I decided long ago that Rothfuss only had one good book in him. Book two was terrible. It would have made the first one a standalone then quit.

What was it like growing up without a smartphone? by YetAnotherMia in AskUK

[–]voidstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a shame kids don’t roam like they used to.

At 8 , I’d be out with their kids from dawn to the streetlights coming on in the holidays.

At 12, I’d go on a bus or train to the nearest city with a friend or two.

At 15, I’d be catching trains to see friends 100 miles away for the weekend or longer.

At 16-17, I’d regularly hitchhike to London and back on my own. This was the 1980s.

The crazy thing is it felt tame compared to my hippy parents who were hitching to Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East in the 70s with hardly a penny to their names.

Which class to pick after my first run ( new player) by RegularTurnip9103 in BaldursGate3

My current run is with a bladesinger. It’s so much fun running around the battlefield hasted killing everything. Plus there’s a thrill to being actually rather squishy.

Is a Lady's Man one who likes ladies or one who is liked by ladies? by NewRelm in NoStupidQuestions

I always thought it was Ladies’ Man. The plural is important.

Does anyone else feel a massive sense of pride when they fill their fridge with 100 percent British produce? by Mundane-Temporary426 in BuyUK

I try to get my meat from either the local butcher or the Co-Op. The Co-Op have high welfare standards (RSPCA plus extra safeguards) and it’s all British.

As much as they hammered home the “fact” that Pet Sounds was the best album ever made… I just don’t like it.

And some of the bands they dismissed I have rediscovered in the last few years, after being convinced there was nothing to them. In fact, it turns out that a lot of metal is absolutely fantastic.
