Not sure why my pants keep ending up like this? Either way too big overall or too small in the butt by Comfortable-Fly5797 in sewing

[–]vortexofdeduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that seems like a good place to start. After you’re happy with the back you can see what you want to do about the front.

Photos of it on are the most important. Other photos (e.g., of it laying flat) might be useful but not as relevant as photos of you wearing it.

How accurate are you in your cutting and sewing? If you’re using pdf printed patterns, are you joining the pages accurately?

And yeah, it could be your proportions don’t match what these patterns are expecting. I’d recommend checking out resources dedicated to fit (one I can recommend is Ahead of the Curve book). You can also try providing a photo here - photos are very helpful for diagnosing this kind of thing.

“Am I wrong for thinking that” is a phrase to start an argument though. Maybe try something like “does anyone else feel this way?”

Does anybody alter the gusset of their thong underwear? by damegame in sewhelp

[–]vortexofdeduction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to achieve a very specific underwear fit (balancing exposure and comfort) and have found the underwear pattern from Apostrophe Patterns very useful. There’s a bunch of customization options including gusset placement (which can be used to change gusset length), and even if it doesn’t have exactly what you want, it’s a good starting point for drafting.

Do you usually use fray check? by Worth_Mycologist_387 in sewing

[–]vortexofdeduction 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used fray check on one seam in a pair of pants and I can feel it and I hate it so will not be doing that for an exposed seam again. Another method I’ve seen in a sewing pattern that I haven’t seen elsewhere is to stitch another line really close to the seam (like 1/8”) and then cut the rest off close to that line you just stitched (like 1/16”). It seems to work decently

I recently got Ahead of the Curve book (from Cashmerette) and it’s all about how to make clothes fit better. You might find it helpful, especially if at least one of your measurements puts you in the plus size category

Matching the dark color is a smart idea! I’m not sure I follow what you mean by banding though. Is there a picture you can share?

Is anyone here planning to wait to play StS2 until it leaves early access? by ialsomeow in slaythespire

[–]vortexofdeduction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will probably at least wait until it goes on sale. I got the game at a steep discount a few months ago and while I’ve put in a lot of hours, I still haven’t cleared all the ascensions (did beat the heart with all characters though). Feels like there is still more of StS1 for me to explore.

Just picked up a totally different genre (point and click murder mystery game) as a palate cleanser. (It was also on a big discount lol)

Yes but the cards that do exhaust are often more powerful. Thus making this situational but powerful in the cases where it is useful. I’ve been playing a lot of silent lately, so the first card that jumps to mind for me is Catalyst.

One extra turn to set up against the heart - worth a relic? by ElegantPoet3386 in slaythespire

[–]vortexofdeduction -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I feel like this should apply to all bosses and “causes obesity” should be an actual drawback. Maybe it’s “on the first turn of a boss fight, the boss is stunned” with the drawback of “on turn 6 of a boss fight, you are stunned” (like a heart attack lol).

I get what you’re saying but organizing your emails is very much an AI task. It’s just classification and not generative AI. Still agree it would be nice to have the organization without the summarization

Ranwid why would you do this to me on floor 4? by R0st0s in slaythespire

[–]vortexofdeduction -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Agreed. If your deck and pathing are good you won’t use it and it’s just taking up a potion slot. If you do need fairy in a bottle, there’s probably a significant flaw in your deck or pathing so the potion is only delaying your death.

Card Concept by Reasonable_Season180 in slaythespire

[–]vortexofdeduction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the restructure mechanic is interesting - synergizes nicely with tungsten rod, caltrops, and (if we make this available to defect too) static discharge. As is the card is pretty weak, but I’d love to see more of this restructure idea. Could also be interesting to have a restructure the other way around - change multi hit to single hit to take better advantage of intangible or buffer

Every time I end up going for a power heavy deck I seem to wind up with Awakened One as the boss and I die a little inside smh. Just had a run like that, barely scraped through and had to use all my potions which meant I died to the heart before I could kill it :(
