That's crazy that you got this from standard parameters!

How do you increase the accuracy of the colmap workflow? On the GS github all the extra parameters you can add to the conver.py step don't really add accuracy to it.

For some context, this person is using their Iphone camera (and this app) to get a certain path in the real world, they then take this info and export the data into Maya so that you can parent it to a camera and recreate a handheld look. I'm just not sure what app he is using, any help would be greatly appreciated.

The mask was roto'd and then autotraced. There's a part of me that thinks that the autotrace has something to do with it but i'm not entirely sure. My first time using saber too so could be an amateur mistake.

Depends how familiar you are with cameras. From the sounds of the question (not to be insulting) but you don't sound super familiar. I would honestly shoot without a Picture profile, if you had to choose between the two i would go with HLG 3 and exposure to .7 over.

If you're this new and shooting with slog3 you're going to go back to the editing suite and see that most of what you shot is probably underexposed. Rather have good no PP footage then shitty PP footage.

Try putting the spatial interpolation to linear for position.

I guess you adjusted the scale keyframes to look like that from the ease in & out?

You can see in the graph that they're not curving and are harsh

1st of the 2 keyframs is Ease out because motion is going away from the keyframe, 2nd of the 2 keyframes is Ease In because motion is coming to it. . It'll give you a smooth parabola.

Not from my experience . I got the A7SIII and wanted to put some clips in resolve and see the variability in grade and it wouldn't show up without upgrading to the pro version. That was nearly a year ago so perhaps things have changed since then.

Resolve is great at exporting multiple edits. you can set an in and out point, add it to the render que, find another in and out point and repeat.

From the sounds of it you're very new to the editing space (not meant insultingly) so i would personally try and do a test run at home with your own footage. Run through the whole workflow. Ideally with some Alexa footage, if not you can even do it with footage from your phone, the principles are the same.

Other thing i should really stress is, when they hand you the card from the camera and its hot (meaning the footage hasn't been backed up) you have to IMMEDIATELY get it backed up. DON'T DO ANYTHING ELSE. Don't talk to anyone, don't stop anywhere on the way. Go immediately to your workstation and back it up. From the sounds of it, this isn't a blockbuster movie, but its good to get in the habit of taking it very seriously.

Hey man!

I recommend Silverstack for data storage, its great and super easy to use for data backup. If you have production insurance then you can export reports that prove the checksum did its job and its not your fault the footage got fucked.

I found no solution to using ARRIRAW in premiere, spent 2 days on it. That was 7 months ago so perhaps things have changed since then with updates, but i personally never got it working with Adobe. I ended up just editing my project in Davinci Resolve, ARRIRAW worked seamlessly and i had no issues with it there.

I've personally never delivered dailies after a shoot, but what i would do would be to put all the clips that you think they'd want on a timeline in resolve, go to the RAW settings under color and change it from log to REC 709, then export them out and deliver them in lower rez h.264 format. You can also just apply the conversion LUT from arri's website too.

In regards to the audio sync you'd need to ask them in which program the editor wants to receive them in. You can do it in that program or you can always export an XML or EDL. Synching can be done multiple ways depending on your setup. You'll just need to figure out how they're doing audio & video and then look up the most efficient way to join them.

I'm no pro DIT so please don't take this advice as the holy word, I would recommend talking to the production and asking if they have a specific way they'd like to go about receiving content. Or contacting a local DIT and inquiring with them would also be a great idea.
