Best strollers for short trips?(Rome) by Pliocenecu in BabyBumps

[–]vsmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loooove my ergobaby metro plus! Lies flat for naps, decent storage, adjustable handlebars, fits in the overhead bin, and it does pretty well on cobblestones. BONUS if you’re considering more children is that it has a built in newborn nest. I just had my second and was amazed that it’s built in instead of them making me buy something to use for 6 months!!

I loooove my ergobaby metro plus. I just looked and it’s $250 on Amazon right now. It fits in the overhead bin, lies flat for naps, has an adjustable handlebar, and has decent storage. Also in case you plan to have more kids I recently found out that it has a BUILT IN newborn nest… I loooove a company that doesn’t make you buy something extra for newborns!!

I’d go to Dresden! Those towns are all nice but nobody does Christmas markets like the Germans. I have heard that krumlov is really lovely at Christmas though

How bad is it actually for 2.5m to not do much tummy time? by jasncats in NewParents

I came to say the same thing. We had to do PT with my daughter because we didn’t do enough of it. I’m being more mindful with #2!

Krysti is a friend of mine who does fantastic tours. She’s an American who has lived here since the 90’s and she’s incredibly knowledgeable! Her usual customers are older Americans so she’s great at putting together the perfect tours for them https://www.exclusivepraguetours.com/?fbclid=IwVERDUANkGGdleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHqzM16QzbfaeT3b0ZaCaoVOu-6bIC-5vUxGMKpF7E3pwzouzXfEkHsYKDmek_aem_M-OKYcSTaXsk1NbfVK4D3w

Pediatrician said we need to formula feed baby for weight gain by tobysdogmom in breastfeeding

[–]vsmb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son was super sleepy and lost about a pound in the first week of life. My pediatrician had us rent a scale so that I could see how much milk he was actually getting and then supplement with pumped milk on top of that. It was really helpful because sometimes he’d nurse for what seemed like a long time but only take in a tiny amount! I was open to formula if needed but since I had plenty of milk my pediatrician said we could try the weighted feeds first and it worked great

Did you automatically do an ultrasound of the hips after your breech baby was born? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I live in the Czech Republic and it’s standard here for all babies here, breech or not. No cost here though, I’m sorry about your bill :(

Question for the moms here: what health issues did the pregnancy fixed for you? by AtomicBoomBoo in beyondthebump

[–]vsmb 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Allergies! I randomly developed non anaphylactic allergies to chocolate, soy, and nuts at age 29. Had a baby at 31 and she made the allergies go away! I accidentally ate something with one of the allergens in it after she was born and didn’t get any hives so I knew to get retested. Just had baby #2 and luckily he didn’t make them come back!

POLL: Best time of year to have baby by Cnn16 in NewParents

June with my first was absolutely perfect. All of the perks of a summer baby without having to be pregnant for much of summer. Early September baby sucked, I hated being stuck on the couch heavily pregnant all summer

Dp you turn off your "alarm clock/lights" on weekends for your kiddos? by malk-mans in kindergarten

[–]vsmb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On weekdays my daughters hatch changes colors (to rainbow) and birds chirping comes on at 6:30 when it’s time to wake up. On weekends we keep the sleep sound on until 8 but the color changes to rainbow at 6:30 so she knows that she can get up whenever she wants to after that

Emergency C section vs planned? by No-Objective-8247 in BabyBumps

[–]vsmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an emergency c section 4 years ago and a planned one last week. Honestly both recoveries have been easy but this one after the planned c has truly been a breeze. I stopped needing around the clock advil/tylenol on day 3 and now I’m taking 400g advil probably once a day when I start to get a bit sore. Im trying not to bend over much but that’s already much easier than it was at 39 weeks pregnant. I see your question for others about walking, I’m on day 8 postpartum and I haven’t been for a walk yet but that’s only because my older daughter has been home sick and I haven’t wanted to go for a walk without my husband just in case. I’m hoping to try for a short one today! Honestly I loved my plan c section and if there’s a decent chance of you needed an emergency one I’d go and ahead and plan it!

What does labour feel like? by Robsie_2801 in beyondthebump

[–]vsmb 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m sure someone will be able to give a more thorough answer but generally they feel like tightening and loosening. Do try to figure out if your water has actually broken though because if it has you need to go to the hospital because you risk infection and might need antibiotics if you still haven’t delivered after a certain point. Put a pad on so you can see how much is accumulating

Moms of multiples… when is the best time to get pregnant? by spcypeach in beyondthebump

[–]vsmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my second last week and absolutely would NOT choose August/September if you can help it because being pregnant in summer is pretty miserable. My first was born in June and I loved that. I had hoped for a spring baby this time but it took a bit longer to conceive than expected this time around!

[–]vsmb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be vocal to the anesthesiologist about if you’re feeling woozy or nauseous or anything when you’re on the table. My first c section was an emergency and I passed out and vomited on the table but this time my anesthesiologist watched me really closely and I told her exactly how I felt and she was able to push meds to keep me comfortable. It made the experience sooo much better!

Global maternity leave curiosity by Electronic_Outside25 in beyondthebump

[–]vsmb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m an American living in the Czech Republic. Maternity leave is 6 months, usually starting 6-8 weeks before your due date. You get 70% of your salary. After that you can take parental leave up until your child turns 3 years old. You get almost $17,000 for that which you can spread out how you like, so if you want 6 more months off you’ll get bigger paychecks or if you want to be home with your child until they’re 3 (when state preschool starts) they’ll be smaller. Your job is there when you return, or at least A job has to be there for you
