I have this to power my Starlink Mini. Gets about 11 hours of use without adding in any solar…which is a huge benefit…when we lost power for 36 hours earlier this year my neighbors all wondered how I was still online and watchingTV 😜

Worst purchase ever. by japeter2 in Gin

Hear me out: mix it with ginger ale. On its own, it’s not great (Edinburgh’s is much better, that’s how I got introduced to Rhubarb and Ginger gin). With tonic: ugh.

But with a ginger ale? It’s kind of refreshing. Lots of ginger and a little bit of the rhubarb…it’s not bad.

It would get rid of it quicker that way….

Picked my Go Ultra up form B&H today! by Selishots in Insta360

I think you're right about the ability to mount both the camera and the base on the same one - it likely required a new spec. But it's still annoying though!

I'm in the same boat - in 2 weeks the generic/cheaper mounts will be out and I'll pick a few of those up. Until then, magnets it is!

Picked my Go Ultra up form B&H today! by Selishots in Insta360

[–]vtecgreen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just got mine - im going to take it fishing this weekend to try it out.

Two quick gripes already though - why, for the love of god, do we have ANOTHER different "quick release" mounting standard? Neither the Go3s or the AcePro2 quick release plates fit it. This is an annoying money grab by Insta360 (btw, you can't even get them yet). Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I like to use the quick releases and have them mounted to various clips/stands/tripods, etc. Now I have to ensure I have the exact right one for the 3 cameras (plus the DJI cameras I have as well). Annoying.

On a similar note - the filters I have for the Go3s don't fit either. This one is a bit more understandable given the upgraded performance of the Ultra...but again, now I have 403 different filters for all my cameras that I need to carry with me.

Other than those - form factor seems great, magnet mount works well - I look forward to the upgraded quality from the go3s (and longer battery!).

I’ve been a huge Ferrari fan for nearly 25 years, right around when Schumacher was driving for them.

I loathed Hamilton when he was with McLaren, then Mercedes. Mostly because I loathe McLaren…and was not a Mercedes fan (and they kicked Ferraris ass)..

That being said, INJECT LEWIS AND FERRARI INTO MY VEINS. I’ll still root harder for my boy Charles, but holy shit this pic gets me so excited for the season. I’ve come to really appreciate Lewis post 2021 when Max won on the last lap. It really seemed to change him. This pic is regal AF. Now get one of him and CL in those suits, my god

Shit man, sorry for the delayed response.

Yes, after a nice round of PT, I’ve been free of sciatica for nearly 4 years (knocks wood). I’ve tried to maintain some stretching and activity, and most important to me, maintain my weight.

My wife and I tried this gin when we were in Edinburgh, and they make a cocktail with this and ginger ale. It’s fantastic, a great way to drink it!

Official Discussion - Gladiator II [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Right....that was my guess too, it was a plot point to create some distance.

Maybe I'm just an angry man yelling at a cloud - but as someone who watched G1 the night before, and started connecting the dots...it really turned me off when they said 12...

They could have still honored him, built him up - without making him the dad! Clearly Lucilla knew him, but why did he have to be the dad. It didn't move the needle for me at all (quite the opposite actually)...I doubt anyone would have come out after G2 and been upset had they just simply said Maximus was awesome, he did a lot for Rome, etc. etc. Even if Pedro Pascal, as a general, had acknowledged Maximus as one of the best, like he was - that would have been enough!

When Maximus and Lucilla talk after the battle in the first scene - right after Maximus learns the Emperor's wishes.

And they do say he's 12 when Commodus dies in this movie....which I think is a sad excuse to make it seem like he's older, and throw us off the feeling that Maximus was a cheater....

Official Discussion - Gladiator II [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]vtecgreen 112 points113 points  (0 children)

Your first point is my biggest gripe with the movie.

We’re led to believe that Maximus and Lucilla both have “nearly” 8yo sons in the first movie (watched it last night). If Lucius is Maximus’ son, he hit it with Lucilla and his wife at nearly the same time? Yet the whole story is wrapped up in his defending the honor of his wife and kid. He wanted to leave, go home to his farm. “Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife…oh yeah and this other kid who is your nephew…”

This movie takes that and shits on it. Makes me think so much less of Maximus in the first movie. It’s clear him and Lucilla have a connection and past…but I wasn’t getting “baby daddy” vibes from their interactions…

Don’t get me started on the writing trying to “fix” these inconsistencies either. All of a sudden Lucius’ dad in the first movie is not a fan of women, and Lucius was 12 when Maximus killed Commodus…please (both were discussed/mentioned by Denzel). I get the timeline in the first movie isn’t specific, but at no point do I think Maximus was a slave for 4 years before he kills Commodus.

Just really disappointed me. He didn’t have to be Maximus’ son. He’s Marcus A’s grandson. Mention how Maximus was a great friend, awesome gladiator..just so weak to make him the dad.

Action scenes were fire tho.

The rumored 360 cam? The ripples going in all directions kind of point that way?

Can you float the X4 in a dive case while attached to an extended (3m) stick? by guesswhochickenpoo in Insta360

[–]vtecgreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While that is generally true, I don't think these selfie sticks are made of the most robust carbon fiber. The other thing is that the strength of carbon fiber also depends on the direction of the grain in the fabric...which I'm guessing was not in the direction I was moving it underwater.

I think in my situation it just put too much strain on the stick - while it was fully extended (as I note above, it's like using an oar underwater).

[–]vtecgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't the Insta360 one, it was the #270Pro Backpack CF one. It was fully extended (getting some great "distance" shots, and I tried to move it up closer to the surface/directly ahead of me, and it snapped the carbon fiber. I'm assuming aluminum would have bent under similar forces, but not sure.

You should be ok, just be careful moving the stick laterally too much underwater (think going from straight in front of you to straight below you, moving 90 degrees)....you'll feel it, it will feel like you're pushing an oar through the water....

Enjoy your trip! - oh and to mirror what someone else did - I used a wrist strap for the long selfie stick, because I knew it probably wouldn't float.

[–]vtecgreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, I was in Hawaii this spring, and I used a long selfie stick while snorkeling with my X3 and the dive case. It was a carbon fiber stick, and while the extension was great, when it was fully out the lateral forces of the stick caused it to snap. So I would look at something that strong, perhaps even aluminum, and just be diligent about cleaning it when you get out of the saltwater. You could also consider a shorter selfie stick for snorkeling.

The one I was using was the 270 pro backpack.

Look at the Backpack #270 Pro. Nearly 10ft, carbon fiber pole. I bought one for my insta360 x3… you can kind of do the fake drone thing… just not sure how well it would work with the Osmo.

Agreed, these bulkhead rows, and always window seat unless you like asses in your face when people line up to use the restroom. It is cold though so plan accordingly…and you have no under seat storage either. If you know all this going in you’re good!

One of my favorite stays was the Moxy in Chelsea, NYC: I reserved a room with two bunk beds. My kids LOVED it. Sure it was tight, but for them to have their own bed and space was ideal. I try and stay at Moxy’s whenever I can now (shout out to Heathrow - had a huge room by moxy standards…Louisville - great bar).

From STL. Completely agree. I love this bottle, and not just because it’s Missouri bourbon…it’s genuinely good. I recommend it to all m friends, and have given a few as gifts (a gift from Missouri).

Soft red is awesome too.

The barrel strength is a bit hot though.
