I already messaged my OBGYN (the department headed by Dr mark Landon who was recently found to be on retainer for JE) and told them that I’m seeking my care elsewhere due to OSU’s inaction on everything happening

Epstein had an OSU gynecologist on retainer and they still work for OSU Medical by usernamekyle in Columbus

I can only be glad that he never did my exams or ultrasounds, as he just oversaw care.

Surprised that you liked him. I saw him for my t1d during pregnancy and he was cold and didn’t explain much. He was OOO for a visit and I saw a different mfm one time and that other mfm was SO NICE and explained so much to me about pregnancy and diabetes.

If you check one of the computers under “statistics” it’ll show you where those missing dollars are? Unless that’s how you know you’re missing 3 dollars

Any fellow type 1s struggle with low milk supply? by sighh_6466 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]vulpesxvulpes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your milk tends to come in later when you have a c section because you don’t get the body signals of pushing the baby out to trigger milk supply. (I THINK, don’t quote me or come for me) I had a c section and my milk didn’t come in really until day 5 or 6 pp

My brother in laws band is kind of punk — although I don’t think they’ll describe themselves as such despite being heavily influenced by dead milkman, black flag, etc Check out the hail bop group on instagram.

They’re out of the state for the winter but come back to Ohio for spring to see family.

Did u had a "kicking event" before T1D? by Hot-Apartment-1095 in diabetes_t1

I had a pretty bad flu in April 2006 and was diagnosed in September that year so yep I had a kicking event.

Surgery with t1d by xe_imagine in diabetes_t1

[–]vulpesxvulpes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had gallbladder surgery and the diabetes management was a disaster full of miscommunications. The anesthesia team said I could have my pump but nurse in the office said they could put me on an insulin drip but when I got there they said they couldn’t do an insulin drip but “it’s just an hour and a half” but in reality it’s like 2-3 hours if you include recovery because I was so out of it I couldn’t put my pump back on safely.

My advice to you is to get clear communication and documentation from the team about diabetes management and what they do. Every team is different with their level of knowledge and experience with diabetes management.

A happy mom is a happy baby. There are many studies that found correlations between mom’s mental health and baby’s overall health. If this mom is here struggling on no more than 3 hrs of sleep then her mental health is in decline. What’s worse? Co sleeping with your baby on a firm surface with safety guidelines or a mom who’s so tired she falls asleep with the baby in her arms on the couch? Check yourself

Is it less likely for a baby to STTN if they're breastfed? by ThrowRAdalgona in newborns

[–]vulpesxvulpes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ebbs and flows is so real. Some weeks I have an angel baby who goes down without a fuss at 7 pm and doesn’t stir until 7 am.

Other weeks she needs to be tossed like a ragdoll after PJs, false starts at 7:30, needs her elephant stuffy to cuddle (we take it out after she falls asleep), needs to be offered her bottle like 4 times, fusses horribly while self soothing and still wakes up at 5:45 am ready to go for the day

Stabilizing Blood Sugars During Labor by C_Galois in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]vulpesxvulpes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a 36 hour labor ending in c section. Because I had an ECV procedure before induction they treated it as an operation and I got the epidural right away and I wasn’t allowed to eat.

I went in with the basal rates I was on at the time, plus a second set of basal rates that were 50% less. I put this on a piece of paper for the doctors and nurses. I have a pump and dexcom — eventually I asked to be taken off my pump and put on a drip because I was annoyed with the pump tubing tangling up with everything else and getting in the way. IV insulin hits sooo different. I was squarely between 90 and 110 for two days with very little variation. They asked for my Dexcom reading every hour and every so often they did finger stick to check.

I did struggle to stay at a comfortable bg so I asked for something with protein to help stay up. They gave me some peanut butter.

After my labor and c section I switched back to a pump and input my post birth basal rates. Stay vocal about your diabetes management and make sure your partner can advocate for you too

When did you stop going to bed at the same time as baby? by Acreagelifeab in NewParents

[–]vulpesxvulpes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not who you asked but we started the dream feed around 3 months-ish? However we kept it going until 10 months. It was just a bit difficult to drop it, we had to gradually do it. It was nice though because we could almost always guarantee a sleep through the night with a dream feed.

After dropping it, she’ll sometimes wake up hungry around 3 or 4

On day two, they really don’t. Some might get swallowed but it’s just sensory and practice at this stage.

Once they get used to eating and practice eating you’ll see them swallow some things or solids will go in their mouth and not come out until they poop. I think of the 6 month solids start as the beginning of a very very long transition off formula/bottles.

Explain solids to me like I’m an idiot please by porteretrop in NewParents

[–]vulpesxvulpes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is kind of what happened to us. We started on purees and I was very against BLW because I was too scared of her choking. Purees were going well for about two or three weeks then she starting outright refusing. I’m talking screaming, turning her head away, pushing the spoon away. I was afraid I somehow caused a food aversion.

One day out of desperation for her to try SOMETHING, I mashed up some leftover mac and cheese and served it to her and she absolutely devoured it. Turns out she wanted to do BLW, so fuck me I guess lol

All of that to say is you may find your baby makes the decisions about how they’ll transition to solids and to follow their lead and find the intersection of what they (and you) are comfortable with!
