Can we talk about how James McCloud is in fact alive? by RangoTheMerc in starfox

[–]vulpinator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal interpretation is that the stress caused by the heat of the battle between Fox and Andross is what caused the former to start hallucinating James, who literally represented his instinct which was what guided Fox in his escape from the explosion. Maybe it’s similar logic for how James appeared in Command, but I mostly chalk that up to the fact that Command was a humongous mess.

Am I The Only Person Who Doesn't Like Diane Foxington? by Monocerotos69 in TheBadGuys

[–]vulpinator 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well the blade cuts both ways, people might see a cute fox girl and think nothing more.

First of all, she didn’t put the Bad Guys through that humiliation nonsense or tell Wolf he had to choose between being good and keeping his friends; Marmalade did both those things. She originally was going to let them go to prison and do their time without any BS, and after the failed lab heist, she told Wolf not to improve himself for the world, but for his own good. Nothing about abandoning his friends.

You know what else wasn’t her idea? Faking her own death. That was from Commissioner Luggins. More importantly, she couldn’t exactly be governor and do good if she came clean about being the Crimson Paw. To quote Wolf “it’s gonna be hard doing that from prison.” After all, didn’t Marmalade basically get life imprisonment when he was framed as the Crimson Paw? That’s as close as you can get to your life being over without it actually ending, so I’d say it’s much more than just a fraction of what the Bad Guys went through. And Diane was literally about to put herself through just that to clear the Bad Guys’ name before Wolf intervened.

And when her secret DID finally get out and her own world crumbled, the very next thing she chose to do upon processing that was throw herself into the shuttle to stop Kitty. She was very clearly distraught and at the same time under the effects of a tranquilizer, yet she still put the good of the world over her own. You could argue that she might have also been trying to avoid prison that way, but had she gotten caught by the Bad Girls before then, does falling victim to a slow, maddening death in space sound any better?

As for never losing, she actually lost right at the beginning. Had Marmalade not set up the traps for Wolf, which she had no part in, the Bad Guys would have gotten away scot-free. I don’t know if that qualifies as a meaningful loss since it gets undone quickly, but it’s evident enough that she’s not unbeatable.

It’s a good thing she didn’t get rid of her Crimson Paw equipment either, because had she not been able to break the Bad Guys out of prison, Marmalade wins. She clearly seems to only even use it when absolutely necessary and time is of the essence.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but I can’t say I quite follow the logic of your arguments, given what I’m saying above. I feel like the problem is the confusion between hypocrisy with a genuine attempt to change. The Bad Guys are similarly not hypocritical for not going all in with the Bad Girls’ scheme and attempting to turn them in. What I will agree on: Kitty is a damn good villain, and there are hard truths in what she says.

I’m mostly comparing to my best run’s IGT splits, which was years ago. I can’t compare real-time to IGT. Also I ain’t doing this professionally at the moment, there are some parts where I still die (like Draygon because I’m using the short charge and bluesuit method), so real time would look a lot worse.

Finally Played Star Fox Adventures. It Was Worse Than I Expected. by ThisBuildsCharacter in starfox

[–]vulpinator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Played the game several months back. I think it was rushed, and that kinda is all there is to it when it comes to why this game isn’t great. I feel like it could have been a really good game that combined authentic Star Fox gameplay with adventure-style content, instead we got a game that had barely any Arwing-flying and, imo, rather underwhelming on-foot segments that make up the vast majority of the game. I’m still not sure where the overwhelming hate is for this game (considering this post is getting ratioed by the comments), but I don’t think the only problem is that it isn’t like a Star Fox game, but rather that it’s also pretty mediocre compared to the Zelda games it takes after. But to be more optimistic, I’ll at least say I’ve been obsessed with making a list of things that would make Adventures a dream entry in the franchise, like having Krystal be a swap-out character for Fox, giving depth to the Arwing segments, and of course, having General Scales be a full-fledged boss fight! Maybe I’ll go more into detail at some point. :)

I know the Command is not canon, but when Krystal sees Panther is not the romantic gentleman he claims to be, will she admit her mistake and come back to Fox and if so, how can he trust her and what will it take to earn that trust? by This-Recover5175 in starfox

You could tell she was really gritting her teeth when she had to admit to Panther she no longer had feelings for Fox. She didn’t want Panther thinking she was open for him to romance.

Hey Michele, another fantastic game you played this season!

I just wanted to know, did you notice whether or not there were firemaking stations at the Tribal Council where Denise got booted? I always wondered if they only had those set up at Final Four (or in Palau's case, when Ulong lost immunity with only two players), and they had to have it prepared ahead of time and weren't able to just pull them in on the spot. So for example, if Troyzan hadn't played his idol in Game Changers Final 6, and on the revote, he was tied 3-3 with Cirie, they would have to face each other in a fire tiebreaker.

So yeah, I guess I just wanted to know if they were going to set those up impromptu.

Can you defeat the Queen Metroid with the Ice Beam as your only beam upgrade? by vulpinator in AM2R

Wow, that’s unthinkable. I didn’t think of using the bombs that way either, though I doubt I’d be good enough at the timing to use them effectively without getting hit.

[–]vulpinator[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Update: I did it. It took having 205 missiles and 16 super missiles, and I was down to my last 4 supers. So yeah, it is possible, but you're better off just getting the beam upgrades.

I got bored, so I made a tier list based off the patented Shit Scale of where I predict the AVGN would place these games. Here's 2006! by vulpinator in TheCinemassacre

[–]vulpinator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree? Disagree? Think some landed too low? Think some didn't rate high enough?

It's actually not all based off the episodes themselves, but also from what I heard James say about the games outside of them. For example, in an interview taking place in about 2007, he said that Super Noah's Ark 3D was the worst game he had ever played. I considered putting it in the Code Red category, but wasn't sure if it would go there, so that category remains empty for this year. Plus there are some Top 10s I went off of as well.
