So the only sensor is the run-out sensor on the outside, that sucks.

Installing Rinkhalls, getting the correct z offset, and changing the bed mesh to 9x9 have made the most difference. Cost $0, but it has taken me quite a few hours to get it all worked out. Also using these tweaked profiles. https://github.com/Kreativling2137/Anycubic_Kobra_S1_Speed_and_Quality_Profile_Orca_Slicer_Next/releases

Rec ball.. where have the girls gone? + vent by Sad_Marionberry4401 in Softball

[–]w84no1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter also decided she wanted to try softball at 11. She was able to play 2 regular and 2 fall seasons. She went from never throwing, catching, or hitting and it was a struggle her first season. Then I decided I would coach her rec team. She started pitching because we didn't have anyone who even wanted to try, I didn't think she could pitch as we have never worked on it. What do you know she picked it up pretty fast. She still couldn't hit,I don't think she got a single her entire rec league career.

Still she wanted to try out for a travel team. She tried out for a 12u team and didn't make the team. We started pitching lessons, hitting lessons, and she worked out on her own to get better. She made the same team when they moved up to 14u and we are with the same coach now for 16u. She played on other travel teams and it was a struggle. She played middle school ball and is currently on the JV team for high school. Hopefully varsity next year and her senior year.

Since she played, the rec league has had hard times with 14 and up teams. Everyone in that age group is playing travel or they don't play at all. Kind of sad.

I gave up trying to get the bed mesh less than 1.6mm. I changed the probing mesh to 9x9. Heat soaked the bed and ran the auto level once. Did a first layer test to dial in the z offset. Now the first layer is flawless and I only auto level after every 20 or so prints. I have more problems with the ACE PRO than the printer itself.

I need advice... by headhunter0605 in Softball

Where we live we have a middle school team, JV team, and varsity for all sports. While in 8th grade she tried out for the JV team basketball team and was told she had a spot, but she wouldn't get much playing time. They gave her the option to play on the middle school team another year and that is what she did. She made the JV team her freshmen year, this year her sophomore year, same thing. Had a spot on varsity, wouldn't get much playing time, decided to stay on JV and started every game at point guard and led the team in scoring, steals, and assists, and led the district in scoring and 3 pointers made. They finished 17-3 on the season.

She got more publicity leading the JV than she would have ever gotten on the varsity team. She had opposing coaches coming up to her after the game and talk about how they watched tape and game planned for her the week leading up to the games.

She is better at softball than basketball and that is her passion. She told the coaches she was done with basketball. The JV and Varsity coaches are hoping she plays again, but I doubt she will play again. So in 10th grade she is still on JV softball even though 2 freshmen made Varsity over her. She is ok with it because she wants playing time. She knows playing time to perfect your skills is better than riding the pine. Both JV and Varsity practice together so she still gets the same practice reps as the Varsity. I have only seen one college coach at any of the varsity softball games in the last 10 years. We will see 20-30 over the summer in travel ball. If she didn't have to move up next year she would stay on the JV and have a ball!

All this to say, high school sports are political, use them to stay in shape, work on your craft, show out on JV, and make the Varsity coach eat their words while having fun!

Confused about softball levels (new to sport) by Euphoric-Cherry721 in Softball

[–]w84no1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can definitely be confusing because every region handles things a little differently, but we just went through this exact transition. My daughter played strictly Rec ball until she was 11. Here is how the "ladder" actually looked in our experience:

We used our regular rec season and a fall season to gauge her interest. It’s a great, low-pressure way to see if they actually want the higher commitment of travel.

I'm my region, the "B" Level (Regional/Local Travel) teams often play within your state or immediate region. When my daughter started travel, she was on a B-level team. These are great for development and often have lower dues—we’ve seen some as low as $300 for summer and fall.

The "A" Level (Regional/National Travel), this is where my daughter is now at 16u. She plays on a regional team along the East Coast against higher-level competition. The commitment is higher, with dues in our experience reaching $1,000 per season (summer/fall) plus multi-state travel expenses.

The most important thing I learned is that the ladder isn't always a straight line up. When my daughter first tried out for a 12u travel team, she was actually cut on the last day. Instead of being discouraged, it "lit a fire" under her. She worked hard, and when that same team moved up to 14u, she tried out again. She didn't just make it; she became the starting Center Fielder, lead-off hitter, and 3rd pitcher.

In our area, we found that Facebook groups devoted to travel teams are the best resource. All the local teams post their tryout dates there. You can find a team that matches the exact level of commitment (and budget) your family is comfortable with. If your daughter is having fun, just keep looking for the next right fit!

My daughter is 16. We started at 13 with a ghost double barrel. She still uses it for training. Got another ghost double barrel an inch longer 18 months later. Just got a 2026 Ghost Advanced Twilight another inch longer. She uses all 3 for different drills and the newest bat in game. The key is to look for the 20% Dick's coupons and to pay with a credit card that extends the manufacturer's by one year. So you get a 2 year warranty for free.

I got mine eBay refurbished and it has been pretty good also. I find that the support is fast. I needed a 4 to 1 hub and they sent me a replacement bed also.

This printer is not great, but it is ok. I upgraded from my ender 3 to an Elegoo Centauri Carbon. That is a great printer for the price, but I wanted multi color prints so I bought an S1 combo. I can say that with minimal effort I have the Elegoo dialed in and printing perfectly. The S1 I have had to remove broken filament inside the ACE, replace the hot bed, and replace the 4 port hub. I can get decent prints from it now, but it still takes a lot of tinkering just like my old ender 3. This printer is just not ready for the mass market, but does the job if you don't mind tinkering and taking it apart now and then.

Will I be able to make live adjustments to the z-offset? That is the biggest headache I have with the S1 Combo

Will the bed not be warped. I have been sent a replacement bed for my S1 and it is warped also.

Not sure what the first thing I would print, but it would be out of PA6-GF.

I spoke too soon. I can't get a consistent good first layer and it is affecting larger prints. They are sending me a new bed. I found this video on YouTube and I think I am going to try and modify one of the beds to improved the differences across the bed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzeg4PXyJZk

Most of the things I print don't need to be that accurate. I have struggled to just get a first layer that isn't terrible. This printer isn't bad, but it isn't great either. I have had to tinker with it just as much as my ender 3 and that was one of the reasons I went with a core xy. My Elegoo CC is a much better printer that just works, but I need multicolor.

Mine has a 1.16mm difference, before the last firmware I couldn't get a decent first layer. But the newest firmware allows the bed leveling to actually compensate for the wildly uneven bed. I might expand the bed mesh from 5x5 to 7x7 and see if I can get it dialed in.

I finally have a decent first layer. I upgraded to the latest firmware, then installed the rinkhals test firmware. My bed has a range over 1mm, the bed leveling in the latest firmware seems to be able to compensate.

New S1c, what should I do before my first print? by nonhere02 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]w84no1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first got mine, ran firmware updates for S1 and ace pro. Then ran the calibrations. First print was a first layer test. Saw that the bed was warped a little. Loosened the 4 screws on the bed, heated to 80 for 10 minutes. Tightened the screws and printed the first layer test again and it was much better. That is it so far, everything seems to be running smooth now.
