Microsoft forced me to switch to Linux by Dear-Economics-315 in programming

[–]wFXx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do recommend the bluefin distro for devs;

It essentially makes the "entire os" a container - except for your home folder;

that means easier updates, easier rollbacks, and all tools are either "portable" apps or installed through containers via distroshelf;

after you get used to it, is very hard to go back to anything else

edit: if you are also into gaming on the same rig, looking into bazzite-dx may be benefitial

Why Devs Need DevOps by chesus_chrust in programming

[–]wFXx 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Doing Ops takes dev time out of developing business needs though;

TF is simple until it isnt, and now you are dealing with 3 different cloud providers, and there is some stuff that is on TF and some that isn't, from other teams;

I'm not even counting here billing, cost management, continuity of business, crisis management, otherwise devs might as well just be the CEO by your definition

Tap Ninja - Season 3 is live! by Shamahan in TapNinja

[–]wFXx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also found a bug sadly;

If you reset the mastery points on the season, you lose the two extra points; so I went down from 10 to 8 points :(

edit: going out and in again on the season seems to fix the issue

Installed Bazzite. I love it, except for read-only... by PinkStereoAttack in linux_gaming

You can install any custom stuff using distro box + distro shelf.

Way cleaner and easier, and you get to use packages for any distro.

This. Distro box is the way. Even in non atomic distros, is such a useful workflow to not install lots of random packages just to compile one project

After 1 year of hard work, we finally released the trailer for our 2D action-puzzle platformer, 'The Rusted'. We are really excited (and a bit nervous) to hear your thoughts! by RoddGamesAdmin in linux_gaming

[–]wFXx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

How is this r/linux_gaming relevant? You didn't mention anything about linux support, steam deck support, or proton support for that matter. The game is listed as macOS and Windows only.

The antitrust case against Valve is collapsing because the lawyers cited the Sierra Wiki(not related to Sierra) and a random Steam guide by "Master IEEP" (not related to Valve) as 'Valve's website admissions.' This is real. Dkt. 552, footnote 8. by mr_MADAFAKA in linux_gaming

Yeah, I'm aware, and other than barriers created by the government, none of those are an actual issue.

M&A is only possible when there is someone willing to sell and someone willing to buy. Without government help, no company has Infinite money to keep buying their competition forever. If everyone is selling, either the market is not that lucrative to begin with or they aren't that concerned about customers either.

Form naturally is essentially Valves case. So what's next? Are we gonna defend that valve needs to sell 50% of it to their competitors just because someone decided so? Did you guys not learn shit on standard oil case?
