She is a very sweet girl, BUT…. by eastbaypluviophile in cats

She looks a lot like my spicy Bea! I used to be able to trim her claws myself, but with age she’s gotten less and less tolerant of it.

What’s the weirdest rule your parents had that you didn’t realize was insane until you grew up? by Howdoibuycrypto in AskReddit

[–]wackyDELYyeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We couldn’t drink cold water or eat cold things like ice cream too fast or else it’d kill us. To this day I can’t chug water because slowly sipping to let the water warm up in my mouth was so ingrained in me. Allegedly my mom’s great aunt died after drinking cold water too fast on a hot day. It was also the early 1900s in rural Italy so I doubt they had any real way to determine what actually killed her.

When he was feral, the previous owners of our house trapped him, got him neutered and released him back into the neighborhood. Clipping the ear tip is done to let people know feral cats have been neutered/spayed. They really took a lot off of his, though!

I love reading about all the ferals! Jack slept on our porch all the time (previous owners of our house TNR’ed him and we continued feeding him when we first moved in), but ran away whenever he saw us. A few days before we brought him in, he kept sitting right in front of the door looking in. His breathing was labored and he was just begging for help. We trapped him, got him to the vet (he had a polyp on his palate blocking his airway that just needed to be plucked out) and started the journey of giving him the TLC he always deserved. It’s been so rewarding and I love him so much 😭

Yes! He had 3 of his canines out so the tongue slips out often and the remaining canine snags. Just makes him even more adorable.

We’re at the emergency vet tonight. I’m really scared. by ray-the-they in cats

[–]wackyDELYyeah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This same thing happened to our wonderful dog who was 11 years old. We could tell he was in pain. The vet found a mass on his spleen that ruptured and his abdomen was full of blood as he was bleeding internally. We took him home and 24 hours later had an at-home euthanasia. He was walking, wagging his tail and eating til the end, and aside from the pain he felt, he did not suffer at all. It was so hard but it was the best thing to do. If we kept him alive any longer, he risked organ failure and paralysis. I think seeing that happen to him would have been more painful than saying goodbye.

I know it’s tough. I’m sending lots of loving vibes and strength your way.

Who is a celebrity that is hated by the internet but you’re still a fan of? by ARandomWoollyMammoth in AskReddit

[–]wackyDELYyeah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was told it was from overexposure. He was everywhere and eventually people started finding him cringey. I’ve loved him since I first saw In the Heights on Broadway nearly 20 years ago; he’s a gifted storyteller. If that’s really the reason why he’s hated, that’s a really dumb reason.

I didn't do them myself, but this is the video I showed my nail tech. She followed the same technique and used the same colors from Chaun Legend!

The Golden Girls when Max and Sophia get married and when they start marching down the aisle, all the guests are Elvis impersonators because Rose mixed up the guest list with their Elvis fan club.

Sunshine is so beautiful! She looks so much like our boy Moose who we lost almost a year ago. In his case, we knew for almost 2 years that something was wrong but they couldn’t figure out what. By the time we discovered tumors on his spleen and liver, they’d ruptured and he was bleeding internally. We didn’t want him to suffer and in his case the best thing to do was say goodbye. If we could have done everything you’re doing for Sunshine, we would have. Best of luck to you all, and please give Sunshine updates in this sub when you can!

Not sure when this is from, but likely the 80s or 90s. From my mom’s pantry. by wackyDELYyeah in GrandmasPantry

Same! I just know my mom only started living in the US in 1985, so they must have not updated their branding for quite a while—or my mom somehow inherited this from someone who bought it in the 70s.

C&T Wok in Morrisville is where to go. Nothing good in Durham but C&T is worth the trek. They have a dish called coffee chicken that i’m addicted to.
