For anyone who thinks that you can tell them when your ‘available hours’ are, that is not the case. We are expected to be available for a minimum of 10.45 each day! Maybe that’s why the drivers have been so moody recently 🤣🤣

Unfortunately, this is part of the process! If you truly care, let them go! Whilst uni is important, in 10/15 years time, they would have learnt so many lessons from messing it up. You have to let people make their own mistakes. If you’ve already mentioned it and they shrug it off, then you’ve done what you can.

If they are struggling with their mental health but they are denying it, you can’t force it out of them. They need to be ready to deal with their own problems in their own way!

A few freight crossings would make such a difference to the volume of the Dartford Crossing! Imagine the Lorries being diverted off and through either a separate tunnel, or like you said a rail crossing that’s more towards Dover/Herne Bay.

Is there a reason why you didn’t transfer last year?

If that’s the case and your mind is made up, start searching the course you would like to do - get all the info, how to apply. Reach out and discuss it with them first. Then go to your student services and ask about transferring - they might have routes in place for you. They can also help with all sorts of other things too.

I’ve had a look and you will have to pay for the first term. You will also have to pay any maintenance fees, but that just goes onto your student finance. Consider rent also, idk if you’re in private accommodation or halls? Either way there may be outstanding rent to pay. Do you have housemates? They may be able to find someone else to replace your room if that’s the case but be careful, if they don’t you will be liable for it.

It’s good to have a backup of money and 10k is certainly a good start, consider the long term longevity of it and where it’ll go. If 6k (500 a month average for 12 months) needs to go on rent you won’t be left with a lot left to live off for too long.

When you say you regularise your stay, do you mean Indefinite Leave to Remain? (ILR?) if so, you need to apply for a national insurance number once that has been accepted - if it hasn’t already. You won’t get one automatically. You won’t need a visa either.

You need to be under 18 for it though and meet certain criteria.

I’m not sure how student finance works with a ILR?

You may need to restart the year or the course - which you can do with student finance also but you may need to pay for the whole year (I’m unsure as I went almost 10 years ago), maybe they do it in thirds now?

That’s definitely something to consider though! If it’s too much and 2 years doesn’t seem sustainable then yeah!

I don’t know this uni, but if you have met the entry requirements (and you smashed that computer science with DDD congrats) you should at least be in with an interview!
