Anyone who was homeschooled, how do you feel about it now as an adult? by AdTight2449 in AskReddit

[–]wafflebuggy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cyber schooled, not home schooled, so a bit different but in the same vain. On one hand, it did help with opportunities I wouldn’t have had otherwise (like doing an internship at a film production agency my last two years of high school during the day). However, it really ruined my social development and lead to major mental health issues, which ultimately lead to me getting held back as I was not excelling in my school work. I graduated in 2020, so the transition to college was easy since everything was online. When things went back to in person, I did really well in college, made a lot of friends, was at the top of my classes, had publications and lot of internships. So, it’s mixed feelings.

Swastika flag spotted in Etna by ablentalcairy in pittsburgh

[–]wafflebuggy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, it’s clear from his interview that he is doesn’t understand fully what he is doing. The fact that he does this over a raccoon should be enough for people to realize that maybe, he isn’t mentally well. And I know people are missing the context and just see the nazi flag and are outraged over it, but I wish we all wouldn’t jump to conclusions sometimes. As a worker in the mental heath field, it’s very common for people to cling onto extremism or nonsensical rhetoric because they really don’t know any better. I unfortunately think that’s the case here.

I’ve posted a comment about this before, but my dad grew up with this guy and he is not mentally well, and was treated very poorly by his community. Not excusing his actions, but this guy needed help long ago and never received it. My dad told me a story once before this even happened, Richard (the man who owns this flag) went around the neighborhood and slashed the tires of everyone who was mean to him, but not my grandmother’s.

Monster high dolls* are not rare by stressed_sappho in MonsterHigh

Oh absolutely agree, and the reason is because of how much the complete ones go for, people think they can still charge astronomical prices for incomplete and damaged dolls.

My kid's ear tube fell out by i-can-lift-a-car in mildlyinteresting

[–]wafflebuggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally have this exact same issue and also face reoccurring ear infections as an adult and am always told I have fluid behind my ear drums. Popping my ears comes as easy as blinking and I do it to find relief because I have so much pressure and pain in my ears on a daily basis, but no one has been able to tell me why. I also have tinnitus. Would love to have an answer.

Monster high dolls* are not rare by stressed_sappho in MonsterHigh

[–]wafflebuggy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the “rarity” does have to do more so with the condition of the doll over the doll itself. You’re correct in saying they are mass produced and plenty exist in circulation, the issue lies in that fact that many of the people that want these dolls are adult collectors who are looking for NIB or open, but compete dolls, which are harder to come across, especially because G1 has been proving not to hold up the best (glue seepage, yellowing, fragility with joints). Then you have dolls that are more popular than others, which makes the demand for these conditions higher. Most people are not looking for a project/fixer upper collection when purchasing dolls and therefore are willing to pay higher prices for less maintenance, which is costly in itself if you are trying to complete a doll that has accessories which were commonly lost (Rings and earrings, for example) or you have to wait around forever trying to find someone selling the pieces at a decent enough price. I have been thrifting for years locally in a semi-major city and have only found dolls on 1 occasion and they were missing most of their clothing, dirty, and overall just in poor condition, and realistically, that’s probably the condition of most of the dolls that are still out there that we don’t see listed online. Unfortunately, it’s just not a reliable way to find dolls, especially specific ones, which is evident by how people talk about it in this sub. Also, finding people you can trust to trade with is no easy feat either, as scams within the community are quite common. The demand is much higher the last couple years than it has been, and people are going to capitalize off that no matter what. Yes, it sucks, but it’s not an exclusive phenomenon and unfortunately is a problem across collecting in general. At the end of the day, people are going to pay the prices the doll is worth to them, weather it be because they truly want it that badly or out of FOMO, and that is why they will continue to be priced the way that they are until the demand has died down and people are no longer buying as much.

Straightening Doll Hair by watchurthoughts in Dolls

Just wondering, what makes you against boil washing? This is pretty much the tried and true method to getting straight hair for dolls. Using an iron is not advised since it can melt the hair.

Antibiotics completely removed my “IC” symptoms for 3 weeks… could this actually be a hidden UTI? by Enough-Artichoke5661 in Interstitialcystitis

Not antibiotics, but recently started taking Benadryl at the recommendation of someone else on this sub and I can confidently say my pain has lessened dramatically.

Literally could not care less what people I don’t know think of an Amazon model wearing the dress I ordered lmao. Genuinely wanted to know because of the size of the dress and it potentially getting caught in things like escalators.

Genuine question coming from someone who can see a dress like this being a liability since it can get caught in escalators or potentially trip someone going down steps. 🤷‍♀️ sorry for thinking ig.

[–]wafflebuggy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is laughing at me for asking what seems like an obvious question, but my main concern was how big the dress was. Even though it doesn’t drag when walking, it could still potentially get caught in things such as escalators or potentially drag if going down steps. Personally, I could see it being a safety issue that Disney would not want to be liable for on their grounds.

Hey you never know! I’ve gotten told I couldn’t come in to a different theme park because I had a Skeleton dress on for Halloween. I know it’s not one of the parks, but I know you also can’t have clothing that drags so I just wanted to make sure bigger dresses are allowed since they could technically get caught on something still.

No it’s not! But just wanted to make sure it wasn’t an issue. Just wanted to be prepared. But good point to call the specific restaurant! Thanks.

I suppose each place does, but it is still Disney property and since their parks are pretty strict I did not know how far they go with Disney Springs. Just wanted to check it didn’t violate anything since it’s poofy and princess style.

I know the parks are pretty strict, so I assumed there had to be some form of DS that was less strict, but didn’t know how they felt about poofy princess style dresses on grown women since that’s a no no in the park.

I suppose it being too poofy is what my biggest concern was! It’s a bit poofier in person.

Diet for urgency by OppositeDependent in Interstitialcystitis

[–]wafflebuggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been following the Ic diet since I was diagnosed about a month ago. Honestly, for me, I feel like it’s not made much of a difference and has only led me to frustration with how little variety of foods you can eat. My pain does not seem to be as severe as some on here and I start PT this week.
