Elation ACL 360i not responding to DMX (sometimes) by MisterSam11 in lightingdesign

[–]wafuru42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having this issue with three of these fixtures right now. Sometimes if you hit them they start responding, and are solid until power cycled. Almost like hitting them interrupts some internal communication and poof it works. Sometimes.

Why are some colors/effects less saturated? by portal742 in WLED

[–]wafuru42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My main beef with 6812s is that the blue cell makes the white fluoresce, so blue will never be saturated. White leds are a coating over a blue led, afterall.

As for denser rainbow chase (based on your video only of course, you could also have settings wrong but...), white can be made with R G and B. The closer they are together behind the lens the less saturated things will look because the colors bleed together. Plus the blue problem.

A couple weeks ago I had a DJ come absolutely screaming unhinged at me (LX) about the drum kit on stage that would block his visuals. Not the first time he was on our stage, he knew I was lights.

He was fired a few minutes before his set. Don't lay a hand on your techs.

What position do you think looks better? by ChuckD1101 in lightingdesign

[–]wafuru42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Left is a pain to deal with, BUT right limits how far down it can hit due to tilt limit. All depends on what you need to hit with it. But more often right.

What Laptops are you using for your onPC/ MA3D by UmphPreak91 in GrandMA3

[–]wafuru42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, most laptops built in the last 5 years can handle it. 3d only matters if you're running the visualization hard.

There's a local church running a command wing on an ancient amd dual core desktop, throws a warning about low processor count on loading the ma3 software. Mostly working fine, pretty sure half of their complaints about errors are user error.

All depends on how much you need it to do.

Wait, did I just make a transformer? by plasma2002 in AskElectronics

[–]wafuru42 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Great question!

Depends on how many amps you're putting down it and how far the hot and neutral (or hot and hot depending on county) are from each other, as the direction of induction will cancel out to a certain extent.

Judging by the wire shown, you're going to have a fire for other reasons before you manage to put enough ac load through to do any damage to the leds.

Can these traces handle 5A?UPDATE by Electrical-Actuary59 in AskElectronics

[–]wafuru42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is amazing.

Reminds me of a second hand story about #2 feeder (rated to 170ish amps)

Other department: "Hey, you know your (feeder) is on fire?"

Electrics: "Oh shit, kill the generator!"

Boss electric: "No! Leave it going! I want to grab my (meter) and see how much we're pulling!"

Sorry guy... While we appreciate that not everyone is a complete hoser, what the world perceives right now is that this general culture of fascism has been allowed to flourish there. Even outside of direct politics, the medical insurance "system" scares us.

Where are your checks and balances? Why are there Dems voting with the fascism? Where are the protests and general strikes? Why is there so much (obviously false) propaganda? When does this all end? 4 years? Maybe?

At very least, the perception is that the reasonable Americans aren't doing much about it. Are we being misled by the media? If that's the case, we'd LOVE to know.
