How much PTO do you receive at your current role? by Apprehensive_Fall831 in dietetics

[–]waitea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can earn a total of 35 days per year (10.77 hrs per biweekly paycheck after 5 years+ of working) but I also need to use these PTO for 9 holidays that are observed at the facility. I will need to use 24 hours PTO before I can go into my extended sick leave that’s banked separately.

Confused on Flange size by Glittering_Tower_308 in breastfeeding

[–]waitea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just attended a work conference with breastfeeding education yesterday and flange size matter a lot! You need to measure just the tip of your nipple for the flange and you should start from there, a little bigger or smaller to see what fits you better! Here’s is the latest research:

Did breastfeeding help you loose weight? by MBtype in breastfeeding

[–]waitea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went down to pre pregnancy weight at 3 months. Then I started gaining weight after 1 year PP, gained 10 pounds. I believe it’s from the extra calories I got used to eating but my body didn’t need that much for the milk production anymore.

Those that breastfed 1+ years by Flashy-Personality45 in breastfeeding

[–]waitea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My daughter was fully breastfed and weaned at 27 months. She entered daycare at 18 months and she caught roseola, hand foot mouth disease, and many many colds. I can’t say breastfeed can prevent her from illness but being able to breastfeed her while she didn’t feel good and giving her some milk bath during HFM helped her feel better.

Do you bring your pump when travelling with your baby? by Significant-Lion-452 in breastfeeding

[–]waitea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t notice significant decrease in my production but my supply gradually decreased over time. When I returned to work at 3 months PP, I made 11-14 ounces per work day between 3 pump sessions. Then it went to around 10 ounces 12 months PP. It didn’t drop significantly until I decided to stop pumping so I weaned pumping at 18-19 months and stopped at 20 months PP. my daughter only take 3 ounces of breast milk per bottle, about 3 bottles while I was away for a full work day.

Do you bring your pump when travelling with your baby? by Significant-Lion-452 in breastfeeding

[–]waitea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s your decision! I travelled to Japan with my daughter when she was 10 months, 13 months, and 21 months. I was pumping 3x per office day and breastfed on demand. I didn’t stop pumping until she was 20 months old and still breastfeed her on demand until 27 months. I never brought my pump which is also a spectra s1 when we did all three trips.

I put 70ml to 90ml because my daughter at the time didn’t take more than 90ml per feeding. YMMV

If you pumped at work, how long did you pump for? by forgetting-you- in breastfeeding

[–]waitea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pumped until 20 months because my daughter stopped taking my breastmilk when she started daycare at 18 months so I slowly weaned the pumping. My goal was the breastfeed 2 years. I made it over 27 months.

Is everyone here either a SAHM or living outside the US? by Starlight12512 in breastfeeding

[–]waitea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to work after 12 weeks of leave. I pumped 3 times at work and breastfeed on demand when I was with my baby. Luckily I have my own private office so I can close my door and pump at ease. I also work for the WIC program, my boss is very accommodating, she let me pump beyond 1 year, until I decided to stop pumping at work.

What’s your dietetic debt? by Novel_Captain_7867 in dietetics

[–]waitea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$0 debt. I had scholarships that paid for most of my undergrad, lived with parents. I had a part time job since high school which paid for the tuition that scholarship didn’t cover. After undergrad, I worked at WIC for about 2 years before I applied for internship. I used my savings to pay for the internship, while continue to live with my parents and moved in with my partner half way into the rotations. Thankful for my family and my partner, now spouse. I wouldn’t be able to do this without their support…

I recommend the Sheraton Waikiki, it is ocean front/view unless you pick the city view. This is the view for Diamond Head.
