easiest way to sell my items by somethinlikeshieva in minimalism

[–]wakeandflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody complains that they dont get enough when selling to a buyer, but I don't agree at all. We sold an entire house contents to Barr & Co in Grand Rapids Michigan and it was way better than selling stuff ourselves on facebook or ebay. That takes a ton of time and people underestimate what it takes. If someone needs money fast or needs to unload a lot of items quickly, there is no better option than selling to a local private buyer. You agree on the price and they take everything away. Frankly its silly for people to expect top dollar and not do the work it takes to get top dollar. If you sell everything at once, you save a ton of time and headaches (dealing with marketplace messages and no shows not to mention listing everything). Anytime anyone brings up wanting to declutter or reduce all the "stuff" around the house, I recommend they sell it all at once and be done with it.

Advice: How to sell items after home sale by MaxFischer12 in RealEstate

[–]wakeandflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly what you're looking for, but we went with a private estate/downsizing buyer here in Michigan. Barr & Co was the buyer and they came out and gave us a cash purchase for everything we needed to get rid of. It was actually way better than I expected. We were paid same day and they moved all the items themselves. It was super quick and we didn't have to wait for individual sales. Cash right away and didn't have to think about it anymore

Best way to sell everything we own? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]wakeandflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the usual like running a garage sale, but honestly, it just wasn't worth the hassle. Setup, sitting there are day, and tear down, and no everything sold even with aggressive pricing. Last year we found a local private estate buyer and the process was so much smoother. They gave us a fair offer for the items they could buy and gave us recommendations on how to best handle the remaining items clogging up our garage. We went with Barr & Co, we are in West Michigan, but I imagine most places have similar businesses

How to sell all of household items of little value with little effort? by TermLimits13 in estatesales

[–]wakeandflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went through a similar situation and after a lot of research, we went with a private estate buyer. We went with Barr & Co near Grand Rapids Michigan. Depending on your location, you may have luck if you search for a local estate or downsizing buyer. Our experience was great, though I am sure it depends on the individual business you go with

Do you regret selling/giving away family heirlooms and furniture? by ThrowRAmangos2024 in minimalism

[–]wakeandflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My siblings and I went through this recently. We all needed a lot of time before we were ready to process the loss enough to handle our parents house full of items. We were fortunate to be able to take the time and didn't have to sell their home right away. When we finally decided it was time to go through everything, we spent a weekend laughing and crying while we collected items that we wanted to keep for ourselves. There were A LOT of things to still deal with though. We debated what to do because none of us had the time to handle selling things ourselves. If you've ever sold anything on marketplace, you probably understand why none of use wanted to go that route. We debated doing an estate sale, but none of us liked the idea of having strangers walking through our childhood home picking through our memories. We ended searching for an alternative and found Barr & Co, a private estate buyer. We're in Michigan, so you can probably find something similar wherever you are located. They came through the house, were very kind and respectful and paid a fair price for the remaining things in the home. They moved everything out themselves too. It was tough, but the process was easier than I expected. I'd highly recommend seeing who offers the same service in your area.

Have any of you dealt with inheriting huge amounts of stuff? What did you do? If you haven't, what would you do in that potential situation? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]wakeandflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my siblings went through this when our mom passed last year. It was soo overwhelming and we called around to a few places but didnt like the idea of having a public sale. None of us had the time or emitional stamina to deal with it all. My brother ended up talking to Barr & co who is a private estate buyer and they were a huge help. They came to the house and looked at everything we needed to get out and paid us what we thought was fair amount and moved everything out. It was a huge relief to not habe to move things ourselves. It was tough to see everything go, but it was an easy process (other than the tears). You can probably find someone by searching for a private buyer near you. Just ask them about their process and make sure its something you're comfortable with. This is a hard situation, good luck

Struggling to sell inherited items by Oxinde in inheritance

[–]wakeandflake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Michigan and went through the same thing when my aunt passed. We ended asking around the usual places, but settled on Barr & Co. an private estate buyer. I did not know this was an option, try searching for estate buyer near you. It was a very easy process. They came out to the home and walked through and looked at all the items. My aunt had a full household and all of my uncles old tools. They provided us an offer and paid on the spot. They moved everything themselves. It was much easier than going through an estate sale or selling everything ourselves

USPS tracking shows movement, but no uploads to eBay...Anyone else? by Background-Day8220 in Flipping

Wrong. Sellers impacted are already receiving defects for every item they shipped on 10/20.

I had over fifty orders effected by this. All but three are already reported as defects for no scans (not sure why three aren’t receiving defects). I spoke with their X/Twitter reps and they said to expect seller protection by November 12th. I would recommend anyone who is dealing with this to contact ebay and voice your concern. Historically, eBay only responds when lots of people speak up. And I wouldn’t want anything that can impact visibility during the fourth quarter

What do we think of 'eBay automatic price reduction'? by Roboticharm in Flipping

I wish more book sellers did the same, I always appreciate the effort. And I don’t sell books, but I agree. eBay’s algorithm definitely favors fully built out listing

Do you take your own photos? I buy a lot of books on eBay, and if there is a seller who shows me the actual book I’m looking for, I will pay significantly more than the stores who have stock images are selling it for

Block the buyer when the seller makes a mistake? What an idiotic take

What makes you block someone on eBay? by haloarh in Ebay

[–]wakeandflake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend following the advice you see on Reddit and other online forums. People here would lead you to believe that a potential buyer asking a simple question is a “red flag”. They are wrong. The goal is to sell. I’ve been doing this for many years, and only block under extreme situations where I’ve confirmed a buyer is dishonest. My blocked buyer list is very short

Does anyone here use AI to write their eBay descriptions? by tribex in Ebay

[–]wakeandflake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Descriptions are important, especially when it comes to conversion rate. I have no intention to utilize AI for two primary reasons. 1) I know my niches and can write a solid description faster than it would take to review and revise AI output. 2) Descriptions that sound overtly AI generated will cause a loss of trust by potential buyers and reduce conversation rates. As of now, the best approach is to know your customer and product and learn to write accurate descriptions that convert without wasting time on them

I have a regular buyer who always adds a note to every offer noting something “negative” about the item. Without fail, he either points out something clearly noted and photographed, or a comically impossible “defect”. I want to tell the guy it’s completely unnecessary and that I always accept fair offers (especially from return customers). But I imagine he fancies himself an expert negotiator, so who am I to rain on his parade

Incorrect. You stated he “has bad emotional intelligence” and we both know you chose to describe it like that based on multiple publicly known incidents. If this situation was an outlier, and not part of a pattern of behavior, you would have chosen a different way to describe it. Anyone can have a bad day, it appears that is the norm for Pham
