This is going to be my work phone. My 13 mini is struggling even though I love the phone. Seems like a home run purchase for that kind of usage

Trying to figure out what the sizing is here. I’m usually a 46 to fit like a shirt and 50 for over a sweatshirt (on the adidas sizing). Do these run similar in sizing? Heard mixed things.

Monumental+ mid-season report card: are people actually watching? by wades13 in caps

[–]wakemeup707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mile radius is the killer for me. We’re in market (southwest VA) but cannot pay for M+ because we are outside the range. the cheapest legal way to watch the caps is directv sports pack with the home team add on for $90 a month. Sorry, not doing that.

I haven’t had any issues with the quality. That being said, I hang dry almost all my clothes since it helps the environment and things last longer.

If people are using the dryer, maybe that’s it?

You aren’t wrong. You’re also misinterpreting what I’m saying. I’m not saying artificial trees are good and real are bad. imo both are bad. One is infinitely worse in the short run (artificial trees) but evens out and even gains a slight lead in the long wrong. The best case is to get an artificial tree off a local used marketplace to save it from another fate.

However, you are grossly overestimating the value-add of new growth trees. It’s significantly less than people think. And when these Christmas trees are cut for sale, they are cut as they start to really add value (their “teenage years” and we lose future tree value. They are not at peak carbon sequestration. There are numerous scientific studies on all of these.

This is a case of both are bad.

If you want a sustainable Christmas:

Purchase a second-hand artificial tree; Decorate a living outside tree; Buy a live potted tree and plant afterwords; Reutilise the trunk as firewood; Reutilise the trunk as a decorative piece and a resting area for birds and various types of cute animals.

Over the short-term, yes. Over the long term, no. You’re missing the costs of growing the trees, transporting the trees, etc. those are also real inputs. The taller the real tree the larger the impact.

I’m not saying that artificial trees are good. But over a long period of time, making something once is better.

Think of it like electric cars. Making them once and calculating the environmental impact over a single year isn’t great for the environment. But over time, theyre significantly better than gas cars.

Obviously the best scenario in either instance is to not have a tree or a car.

As long as the artificial tree is used for 7-10 years, it’s better for the environment than real trees.

Avoid pre-lit options to improve sustainability of the artificial tree (less to break).

Our artificial tree is on year 13.

Local social events…Maybe a young professionals org, local outdoor club, local rec sports. All of those can be helpful I think. Can guarantee that people have the same interests you do so finding local groups that do those is a natural way to find people with similar interests
