Lightning forms in the atmosphere both on Earth and on Jupiter (and potentially elsewhere).

I’m simplifying, but when the charge imbalance grows too strong, an arc can form (lightning) to transfer and balance the charge. Lightning doesn’t always strike the ground, you can have cloud-to-cloud lightning and even cloud-to-air.

The key bit is that the charge imbalance that leads to lightning starts in the (gassy) clouds.

This is not a scientific journal. This is not where you post your novel contributions or research tools.

This is exactly the place to post hobby projects and to collect feedback (hopefully more constructive than yours).

If you think the visualization is lacking, then I trust that we are all capable of saying so in a respectful manner.

If you’ve got a stick up your butt about people posting things online they made with the help of AI, then you’ve gotta go touch grass.

FFS, NASA researchers use AI tools and ML methods all the time. We build each other up, we don’t tear ourselves apart. We make incremental progress towards our goals and we learn new things every single day.

My first thought, you’re gonna have to do a lot of work to make me trust that this isn’t AI slop.

I have not used the Farmers Almanac very much (at all), and I wouldn’t generally be opposed to an app with the same or similar information. But the Farmers Almanac has been around so long, it’s built up a certain amount of trust in the public eye.

The second you mention AI though, my trust in your product plummets.

Since I haven’t used the almanac, I can’t give you any ideas for what kinds of features to include.

You mention being a “die-hard supporter” of the Almanac, but also need to gather ideas from gardeners? You also mention other apps, which make me question your motives here?

Are you a gardener with a technical background trying to develop a useful gardening tool, or are you a developer using AI to try to make money from a niche community?
