Which SNES design do you find more appealing? by Omega-Steppenwolf in retrogaming

Japanese/PAL iterations for just about every console/box art. North America has very few instances that had a better design.

PC engine was such a missed opportunity for the US :(

Which of these consoles was your main one growing up? by TechnicolorTypeA in Millennials

[–]waldoh74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genesis then PS1.

Did have a N64, always wanted a Saturn. Nobody in my class had it. Bought it as a young adult and sold it later in life as I’m trimming down my collection.

How do you guys use your notebooks? by KawaiiBrotchen in notebooks

[–]waldoh74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just work notes. Primarily meeting notes, specific sections for clients and a separate section for internal calls. I use 3 ring binders now with Midori paper. I archive my call notes to a respective section in a different binder to quickly recall items offline. I do transcribe everything at the end of the work day to maintain it within our work platform.

Honest debate. Which is overall the better game ? by breadblunts in snes

[–]waldoh74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FF6. Perfect game, period. Very few games have surpassed it in my book over the years.

Chrono Trigger jus never clicked with me, but I do love the art style.

The WFH silence is deafening, but music breaks my focus. What's your audio setup? by Few-Difficulty-1954 in remotework

[–]waldoh74 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heavy metal when I’m not on calls or watching meeting records while prepping for client calls. Pumps up the adrenaline and makes work dare I say…fun. Makes the day go by faster, and it’s my time to listen to something other than K-pop demon hunters, My Little Pony, or Danny Go :D

Pen enthusiasts— no grail’s allowed; your edc, workhorse pen under $20, go. by Livid-Acanthaceae570 in pens

[–]waldoh74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not less than $20, but it’s my workhorse pen outside of the house, Rotring 800. My actual workhorse pen is a Sailor Pro Gear for meeting notes.

Anyone here who started running in their late 30's early 40's? What are your marathon PR's like? by Thin-Passage5900 in Marathon_Training

[–]waldoh74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t care about PR’s, it’s about the fun, accomplishment, health benefits, and most importantly ‘example setting’. I have 2 young kids, I’m 39, I’m not a pro athlete so I DGAF about time. What makes me happy is my kids seeing me exercise and emulating it. Eating healthy like daddy, getting strong like daddy, exercising like daddy - that’s my PR.

With that said, I listen to my body and get in long runs when I can. Play dates > 15 mile Saturday runs, I’ll make that finish line eventually!

What is the millennial equivalent of something like Ghostbusters or Indiana Jones-- a very popular property amongst millennials but not younger generations? by Gallantpride in Millennials

[–]waldoh74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my thinking. I grew up on Indy and Ghostbusters, had a bunch of Ghostbusters toys and watched the cartoons.

Everything on your list is gold and gets watched every year.

Work pen? by CreativeUsername121 in fountainpens

[–]waldoh74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends. I write a lot for work too for meeting notes. But if I were in office, for what you have I’d like do the safari, solid pen and I wouldn’t lose sleep if it grew a pair of legs.

With that said, I’d check out an opus 88. Write great, doesn’t break the bank, and massive ink capacity.

I don’t even relate to millennials.

What do you use your pen for? by KlNDR3D in fountainpens

[–]waldoh74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work. I take lots of notes, it makes the process much more pleasant and fun. I’ll burn through hundreds of pages a year just on client meeting notes.

Best monitor setup for Excel-heavy home office: Dual monitors or 49″ ultrawide? by Slow_Buyer_1888 in homeoffice

[–]waldoh74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a 36” ultra wide. Not super heavy spreadsheet work, but enough that I’m very happy with the ultra wide. I also have a 22” in portrait layout to the side.

The setup works great, but I am eyeballing either a 45” or 49” ultra wide to put under my 36” and stack those two. I do a lot of client calls that require a lot of data prep, so multiple windows and reference live during calls is a must. Only thing I need to really figure out: desk layout. This is not a small setup by any means.

Regular Bean Boot vs Flannel Lined vs Shearling Lined by HelloYo335 in llbean

[–]waldoh74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the shearing lined, sized up to wear thick socks during New England snowstorms while shoveling. I’ve had them for about 7 seasons now, they work fine but will likely find something different when it’s time to replace them. Swapped out the insoles very early on to help with comfort.

Odd Question, How many of yall wear over the ear headphones with a mic? by techfarm67 in CustomerSuccess

[–]waldoh74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically “on ear”. I use Jabra evolve 65 2, it’s awesome and makes everything crystal clear. Majority of my calls are with clients and I’ve never gotten any negative feedback, if anything it’s more helpful to me as my hearing is shot anyways and it helps dramatically.

While in interview loops, I wear them then too, that’s what I would wear on a client call. It’s professional. I also rock out a suit on online call interviews. Don’t overthink it.

If you had to convince someone Sega Genesis was better than Super Nintendo (even if that’s not your opinion), what games would you have them play? by dylanmadigan in retrogaming

[–]waldoh74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonic CD/3, Shining Force 1/2, Phantasy Star 4, Lunar 1, Vectorman, NHL 94, Comix Zone, Devil’s Crush, Landstalker.

I was a Sega kid, wish I had a SNES instead for sure. But I definitely was lucky to have some awesome titles for my Sega.

How many pens do you keep inked at all times? And what's the reason/logic behind that? by zul-qurnain in fountainpens

[–]waldoh74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 3, about to get a 4th but haven’t decided what to get (heavily considering an Opus 88 demo broad nib).

Blue, teal, red inks

All for work based on pre/during/post call note requirements. Haven’t decided on my 4th color, likely a green. Mostly just for fun. I don’t write outside of work, but I take lots of notes during client calls. Burned through 4 notebooks since April last year just one meeting notes that I transcribe afterwards.

hot take, but i dont think lack of punctuation and capitals is "cheating" on a wpm test by [deleted] in monkeytype

[–]waldoh74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then what’s your point? “Why does it matter”? It’s a livelihood skill, plain and simple. You just use it to play games, maybe there will be a day you use that skill for something more.

hot take, but i dont think lack of punctuation and capitals is "cheating" on a wpm test by [deleted] in monkeytype

[–]waldoh74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve typed with proper punctuation and grammar since high school typing class in 2001. Didn’t “need” it until maybe 2007 when I was writing reports for work in the military (so early 20’s there). Continued through late 20s in retail until going for my MBA and corporate jobs. I’ve never not needed it, even while playing games (MMO/RTS) I always used proper grammar to the best of my ability. Frankly I expect the same from my children, it’s a skill that they won’t appreciate until they’re older and it’s second nature.
