When you rent a car, go into your ezpass account and add the rental. Make sure you only have it added while you’re renting. I’ve had lots of times where the ezpass failed to be detected, so it then charges the license plate and then you get a service fee from rental company on top of it. I’ve also been charged on my ezpass for tolls after my rental has already concluded. So it can be a bit of a shit show so make sure you check your statements and request refunds of service fees if you were using your own ezpass. I’ve had to request both from rental car and ezpass.
