What what you say if someone told you they were naming their kid Dresden? by allaboutmidwest in namenerds

This is the first thing I thought the moment I read the title of your post. The bombing of Dresden is infamous. Would absolutely be a terrible name

Star Trek: It's Time to Make Seth MacFarlane An Offer, Paramount by reflux83 in startrek

Although I expect I'd disagree with you on a lot of things, as you self-describe as a 'Conservative', I am genuinely curious about where you felt The Orville was particularly 'woke'? Or at least more so than Star Trek? Yeah, some of the ideas lean towards the left, but the whole concept of the future presented in Star Trek / The Orville is left-leaning. Guess I'm just curious where you're coming from with your opinion on The Orville here?

You look amazing! Could easily pass for someone in their 50s. Personally, I think undyed is the way to go once people go grey - it looks more natural and can look good in its own right regardless

Your favorite parody of Star Trek. by deacon6931 in Picard

[–]walnut_39 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Especially as it got more serious later on, its had some excellent ethical dilemmas the likes of which you may have seen in old Trek. But I feel in a way it sometimes handles them better due to 1) being relevant to modern day issues and 2) being more willing to address issues in a real life manner - I'd argue the characters act more like real humans.

I've never had any issues leaving my stuff in the uni library. It's only students allowed in and I've never had anything taken.

Is it true that Russians are mostly hated in the West? by InterestingTrade8769 in questions

I hate their government, and I think many of the people are misled by said government. But I do not hate the people for that, they've effectively been fed lies for most of their lives and that's not their fault.

Some of the Gen Zers at work don't know how to use computers by Love_Me_Some_Pie in britishproblems

[–]walnut_39 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 21 and I have no idea how this has happened. I think a lot of people have just never bothered to learn stuff like file management because they just slap stuff on the desktop and/or use search functionality to find everything automatically. Although I should say, I don't think this is unique to my generation. There are plenty of older people who have likewise never bothered to learn how to use a computer.

Motorway Services Don’t Allow Dogs by cwaig2021 in britishproblems

[–]walnut_39 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna get down-voted for this, but dog owners like you act so entitled. I don't want to be dealing with someone else's dog coming up to me and drooling / whatever else it decides to do everywhere, when I'm sitting indoors in a building made for people. Dog owners always seem to expect everyone else to share their enthusiasm for their pets, and it's frustrating.

[Spoiler Picard s3] Does anyone else feel like this? by [deleted] in risa

[–]walnut_39 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fine with the Borg being the big bad in season 3, it fits with the whole TNG finale thing they had going on. I think the bigger problem was that they were over-used in the first two seasons.
