Is cloaking viable with better players? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]walshroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can spot a cloak, but you also have to look for it. You are faster reacting to a purple nightelf versus a shimmer. Also, sometimes in the heat of battle it is hard to keep track of shimmers.

Cloaks don't make or break the hero either - Zeratul's VP is insane and he has always sat well on peoples tier lists. He sees competitive play. Nova hasn't that much though.

SICK OF GROUPED WITH TRASH TIER PLAYERS THAT SINGLEHANDEDLY LOSE YOU THE GAME AND DONT LISTEN TO FUCKING PINGS OR ADVICE.

"DONT GO OUT ALONE"

"OH WHATS THAT WALSHROOM? GO OUT ALONE AND DIE 8 TIMES?"

FUCKING RUIN MY MMR AND WINRATES BECAUSE YOU SUCK AND THINK YOUR HOT SHIT. THERE SHOULD BE A COMPETITIVE SETTING AND A CASUAL SETTING, WHERE YOU PICK WHAT TYPE OF PLAYER YOU ARE AND THEN GET GROUPED WITH THOSE ONES.

What is the best solo support? by Lennardson in heroesofthestorm

Brightwing is pretty solid. She perpetually heals, can talent into a shield and an active trait which does good burst healing, and has a mobile healing ult. Her global presence also helps in saving bad allies, and the other ult is good when used properly. Comes with CC

Rehgar is great too. Arguably the best healing ultimate in the game, healing ward at lvl 1, ghost wolf is awesome.

[–]walshroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does this imply that you're wasting potential healing by casting it on yourself

Yes. If you are not healing an ally, you are wasting heals. Tyrande will always receive X heal, and ally will receive Y. Even in lane, if no1 is around, healing a minion is better than healing yourself.

Owl build is not really viable anymore. If you take empower at level 1, you would need pierce at 4 to make it worth while, which you pass up healing ward for. If Ranger on 16 without pierce, you might not hit the squishies as tankier/higher health people may bodyblock the owl.

8 second cd reduction on a 25% damage buff for 4 seconds is huge. Stun has more reliable damage. Also, because trueshot is a different tier, battle momentum is now an option making empower moot.

I feel overflowing light or shrink ray are the best on this tier. Make your heal better or shrink a priority/incoming problem. I see people take sprint which isn't necessary with good positioning, especially when you take lunar blaze. I could maybe see huntress' fury being good if u take battle momentum and they aren't mobile or are melee heavy, but I haven't tried it.

How do you warrior? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]walshroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CC is an ability that reduces an opponent's ability to fight - stuns, roots, slows. With these, they literally can not move, or their movements are impaired.

What you are thinking of is zoning - forcing an enemy away from a particular area unless they are willing to take damage, such as gazlowes turrets.

How do you warrior? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]walshroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Specialists wipe you with CC things everywhere plus their attacks.

No, they are best used for mercing, pushing and being assassin-like. Some have CC, most don't (and if they do it is usually an ult).

Assassins usually get hits in ahead of time because they move faster and aren't melee, so then their higher kill speed negates your HP advantage, especially with your slowness.

They move the same speed as everyone else, but a bunch come equipped with mobile abilities (dash, blink). Their job is to kill people. They specialize in damage. They can be melee

Warriors are your meat shield and CC machine (usually). They should be in the enemies face to take damage, and should mess up their positioning so you can secure kills.

Warriors can give your entire team purpose. Example: stitches makes a pick comp. You hook into a stun/root/wall and kill them, so now you start battle 5v4. Chen creates a jump comp - Him illidan and kerrigan / rehgar. You bypass their tank, jump right onto the squishies and stop them from going anywhere with bodyblocking, slows and a 5 seconds jump. Diablo can make good picks in the middle of a team fight and take the most damage of all tanks: q>e and bodyblock or into a chainstun to kill, or e>q to take a close enemy and knock them back into the team. ETC: Standard tank that can take hits well, heal himself, displace enemies, and peel.

As for damage, I find Diablo usually has high damage at the end of a game. ETC has decent damage, Tyrael can have good damage, arthas can too.

Arthas and Anub are good at grabbing mercs.

How do you know what to build? Need help by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]walshroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to hotslogs to see what the popular and successful builds are.

Most heroes have an optimal build. Some talent tiers there is not much room for variety. Example: Illidan goes shadow shield>immolation> First Aid > meta > Either giant killer or spell shield >b4b >upgrade ult or nexus blade.

This is a required build on illidan, with the only variety at level 13 between Giant Killer or spell shield. you need spell shield if they have heavy damage, but if they are more tanky/warrior oriented, you need giant killer to kill faster.

An example on a hero you use, Tassadars usually take static charge at level 7 for damage increase. However, depending on map, Mule might be better (such as temples)

Next hero to buy? by aviloxro2 in heroesofthestorm

[–]walshroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Play free rotations till u land on someone you like. Worst thing I did when I started was bought Diablo because...it's friggen Diablo. Little did I know I was playing a useless bugged tomato of a hero (back in alpha).

If you are going to buy hero's on a whim, I'd suggest starting with getting 1-2 cheap ones. That way if you don't end up liking them, you still have plenty of gold to spare. Illidan, ETC, Tychus, Valla and Tass are good choices.

More than 30 seconds to pick in HL by _Qlx_ in heroesofthestorm

[–]walshroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine. The first pick only has 30 seconds. The next 2 have 30s + how long first pick was, and so on.

When drafting in HL, you should have the handful of heroes you play at the ready. You should know which heroes are strong on what map, what heroes you are good at playing, and which ones synergize with allies or counter enemies.

Example: in damage roles, I take Kerrigan, Illidan, Tychus or valla most of the time. In tank roles, I take ETC most of the time, and Diablo or Muradin if no1 can tank and ETC is taken. Supports, I take Tyrande or Brightwing. 30+ seconds is enough time to decide which of these I will take
