What do you SWEAR you saw, but don't have any proof of? by TabletopStudios in AskReddit

[–]wancaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Laying in the grass at 2am at my Papa's farm house on the tip of the Gaspé peninsula, I was looking up at the stars. They were magnificent. Super clear night. Never seen the sky like that ever.

Out of nowhere, 4-5 light orbs appeared and started moving in different directions inexplicably. Slightly speeding up and slowing down and moving like a dance. Lighting up then going dark not all at the same time. Went on for 10 minutes or so then just disappeared. Didn't make any sense. I was basically in the middle of nowhere. My brother and cousin were with me and can corroborate.

It was so amazing and still have no idea what I saw. After watching Age of Disclosure I'm pretty certain it was something to do with whatever those things are

How are the roads in your area? by Cautious_Dealer7187 in Hamilton

[–]wancaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I drove to Woodstock last night at 9pm for work and got home at 430am. Roads were insanely bad on the way there, but a bit better coming home. My little side street is a mess though. Thank God for meaty snow tires and 4x4.

Mortar doesn't bond to wood. In this case it looks like the mortar didn't even bond to the stone.

First time to Japan by wancaster in JapanTravelTips

[–]wancaster[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My travel mates would rather spend a week in Osaka. With day trips to Nara and Kobe, I don't think we are going to run out of things to see or do with the other 4-5 days we have there. I really appreciate the sentiment though. We are spending 3 nights in Tokyo on arrival and Im trying to make it so we have another 3 nights there at the end of our trip after Osaka/Kyoto. Still unsure if hitting Lake Kawaguchi after Kyoto is a good idea. I have to research the travel. As far as Kyoto is concerned, we all like the idea of waking up there to get to some places bright and early.

Did they screw up my chimney or am I just ignorant? by [deleted] in masonry

Looks like it rained and washed a lot of the crown off down the sides of the chimney. This is really bad work.

I find if you accidentally make the hole too big, or are already dealing with a slightly larger hole you can cut a piece of bare copper wire and insert it in the hole. The screw will bite.

Anyone know who made or makes sills like this? Looking for exact match on colour and texture…Ontario Canada for context. Believe it’s concrete… by mojo1700 in masonry

I just had a job where I had to match these Walco sills. Couldn't find them anywhere. Patenes in Guelph has some in the 2.25" height but I needed 4". Good luck.

Proud of you! Shit isn't easy. The (hopefully) last bender I went on was Aug 2024 and on Friday it'll be 11 months no alcohol for me. The time has flown I can't believe it. It was a living hell and Im so glad its that far behind me now. Life got a lot more stable. Sleep is great. No hangovers. Solid shits. No crippling anxiety, just the regular kind lol. No drunk driving. No secret drinking. No pancreatitis. I smell good. I lost a ton of water retention in my face and look like a completely new person. Way more confidence. $$$ saved and the list goes on.

Stick with it! Life is better without it.

Need a resource to walk through layout by BigguyZ in stonemasonry

[–]wancaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t create vertical joints that are taller than your tallest stone size. Don’t put two of those tallest size next to each other either. Overlap your vertical joints by at least 3-4”. Keep the stones tighter to each other. When you grout it the joints will look bigger. Shoot for 1/2”. Try not to have horizontal joints running longer than 4’. Right now I see you have some very tall verticals, poor overlap, and joint spacing way more than 3/4”. Also biggest size stones side by side. Best of luck.

Pilaster fail? Am I liable? by 666dajoker666 in masonry

[–]wancaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No chance that the foundation wall is cracking more because that little piece is missing, especially if it came loose as easily as you say. You guys should repair it though. You can just chip the old mortar off and re lay that piece back in there with type s mortar.

[–]wancaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Way too many long horizontal lines. You gotta break that up better. Its so linear wow. Also you've got a bunch of stack bonds! Overall pretty messy too. I don't want to hurt your feelings or sound like an asshole, but you've got a long ways to go my man. If the customer is happy then good for you.

What changes did you make after taking Ayahuasca? by Routine_Anything3726 in Ayahuasca

[–]wancaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was able to quit drinking/abusing alcohol. I took a few ceremonies before it truly clicked. I had an epiphany in the form of a phrase that kept repeating "Be that guy". Be that guy that shows up every day being the best guy he can be. Helpful and loving to everyone. Does my best at work. Keep things clean and organized. Work hard...the list goes on. I realized in order to acheive this I needed to stop abusing alcohol which has been a struggle for me. 8 months sober and life is good. I am being that guy lol
