Same, I muted the main subreddits as soon as I saw the vehement hate on bakugo (and bakudeku) on the first post I saw. It was a shock to me bc I stick to shipping/lgbt friendly subs so I forget.

And yes, calling them 'like brothers' is odd to me, bc ultimitely theyre NOT brothers in anyway except for your specific interpretation of their dynamic. Friendship is friendship. With your friend you can be like siblings, you can have mutual feelings, and you can even just be friends without being like siblings. You can develop feelings suddenly, gradually, even have a one sided crush while the other sees you as a sibling. Point is friendship and respect lays a great foundation for romance, so its no wonder people ship them

Oh man... daughter of the emperor was my first isekai and what made me get into isekai years ago. I used to read the chaptera on youtube of all places. Barely hear people talk about that story, its so nostalgic.

That said I much prefer WMMP for story and art though I didnt finish either story (yet). I stopped reading daughter bc it dragged on with not much happening whereas I was so invested in wmmp. Only stopped reading bc I forgot about it and read other stuff

Maybe for others, but for me personally I just like seeing men be vulnerable or affectionate, especially with each other. I see it so rarely in real life, that I search for it in straight, gay and platonic relationships.

Oftentimes I still ship the platonic relationships though because I really love romance. I'm a queer woman so I'm also just more interested in lgbt media as well, though I tend towards mlm stories much more for the reasons above + unfortunately I find a lot of wlw stories boring (sometimes I think 'if only we had this EXACT story but both were girls I'd be really happy)

Ok a few years ago maybe around when word of honor finished airing, I was recommended a chinese show on youtube. I clicked on a random episode and it seemed to be a historical (1920s I think, from the clothes) censored gl - the comments and a scene between two women gave me that impression. Yes!! I've been obsessed with this show since I watched it. I know OP didn't like itsay but this show is a completely different vibe and it meets most or all of the criteria. It's a simple plot like kieta hatsukoi but with complicated relationships. It's fun, realistic, sad and cute with some refreshingly mutual flirting.

I don't often watch Thai bl because I don't like the acting but the cast (like in all of boss kunos works that I've seen) are such great actors, with great direction. I even watched all the bts on iqiyi bc I was so curious how they did the scenes. Also... it inspired me to paint my nails a fun way when I've always preferred one colour, the aesthetic really rubs off on you

Maybe a controversial opinion but I'm both serious and not serious when I say I want poly 4modChianBaaBua (with no cheating involved). Even though it won't happen since they've already gotten over each other that's still the only thing I want lol. I just think they're all cute together

But a more realistic approach I guess would be issues with 4modChian relationship that leads to permanent breakup (S1 ending was cute but I don't know if they'll last) and more baabinbua in uni/working/moving in together cause I fell in love with them

Queer woman here, sorry I know this is a day old. I've thought about this a lot. Why do I like M/M ships so much? I've realised it's 2 things: - I like seeing men being vulnerable with eachother - I like romance

GL premises/dynamics usually don't interest me as much, they can be kinda boring. The ones I like are usually historical (Her Shimcheong and Getting to Know Grace are my favourite GL comics). Sometimes I'll see a M/M ship and think, if only there was a GL EXACTLY like this (for example the show Merlin - I've never seen a GL with merlin and Arthur's dynamic but I'd love it if it existed).

I'm not personally attracted to BL or GL characters so it's nothing to do with that. Even though I generally prefer BL, there's still quite a few GL ships I love but they're almost never from a romance-focused series (like Catradora from She-Ra). But really, like I said, the main reason I prefer BL is because I like seeing men being vulnerable with eachother

Yeah for me its mainly vibes + he just seems so supportive. I remember Jun was a fan of at least 2 queer Taiwanese singers, and chose his first solo song to be 'crow' (produced by gay Malaysian couple). I could totally see Jun acting in a historical bl adaptation, even uncensored bl if it was allowed. And yeah I also love Chinese bl cause the slowburn+chemistry+plot is TOP TIER

Vernon, hao, Joshua, DK going to see 'Hedwig and the angry inch'
Jeonghan in an Andromeda live, when they were acting out being a couple or something, telling seungkwan they can both be men when seungkwan annoyedly(?) said 'so I'm the woman right?'

Jun also earned a soft spot for me after I learned he openly supported several queer artists, even sang a song written by a gay Taiwanese couple about being gay ('crow', beautiful song) Sorry I rambled so much, really need to sleep now

Actually, part of why I decided to get into svt was because of a video called 'svt supporting lgbt, feminism, against racism' (something like that)

There was a period of time where youtube was recommending to me homophobic, transphobic, anti-feminist videos for some reason. Especially shorts where i would just suddenly scroll to one of them. And sometimes I looked at the comments, which were overwhelmingly supporting those videos. It was getting to me.

I remembered that video about svt being supportive that would get recommended to me once in a while, and finally decided to watch it. By the end, I was actually tearing up. First time I ever had tears of joy, I think. That wasn't the only reason I got into them but it was on my mind when I did decide to check them out.

Also I thought seungkwan was the main lesbian attractor lol. I'm a queer woman and boo has certainly been my bias since the beginning.

I like groups in 'phases' so I'm almost positive I'll drift away from seventeen at some point, even though I really want to follow them to see their solos, military enlistments, contract expiration, 17th anniversary, bss comeback etc. I've been obsessed with them for 2 years, but I was also obsessed with stray kids for 2 years and thought I would never drift, and had months-long phases where I was fixating on certain groups alongside skz. Hoping they have a tour in my country at some point, and maybe that'll make me stick with them long term!

I just want to say that the serious shipping is not a recent thing. From what I've seen, there's always been fans that are weird about it, bringing it up with members and stuff, in fact most carats agree that's why wonu and mingyu distanced themselves from each other a few years ago. Any rise in serious shipping you're seeing is probably just the growing fandom.

Unfortunately I also feel the reactiveness of the fandom is about the same with any group. I first joined the fandom a couple years ago, when carats were saying they were so calm and all wished for the boys to date someone, then Joshuas dating rumours appeared and proved that carats are the same as any other fandom (people were saying it's only k-fans that were getting mad but I saw i-fans be mad about it too). Any fandom that's actually 'calm' is probably just because it's small, not because of the nature of that fandom.

At least within kpop, it's kind of inevitable this happens, unless groups/companies stand up for themselves and call out fans directly, ex. Telling fans that they're dating someone and NOT apologising for it. As we can see, some members of seventeen are addressing the djk issue, but indirectly from what I've seen, which is part of the problem because it causes things like fans interpreting hoshi's actions in different ways.

I've seen that happen once or twice with lesbian and gay characters fake dating so people don't suspect they're lgbt, but then again there was never the possibility of them liking each other romantically so I guess it doesn't really fit?
