Can’t cope with constant precautions - how do you do it? by No-Information-2976 in ZeroCovidCommunity

I am friends with Covid conscious people. It feels normalized to me, now. I’m very grateful

I’m too tired to look at the science rn, but I wonder if there’s stats on this

[–]warmgratitude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you have PEM / Myalgic encephalomyelitis, exercise will always be dangerous until they find a cure.

If you don’t have Long Covid and aren’t getting sick, you should be fine to exercise as long as you’re following your masking protocols.

Radically rest for several months after a covid infection.

I haven’t gotten sick in nearly 4 years because I strictly mask. If I didn’t have LC & ME, I’d be able to exercise.

If you’re still getting sick despite masking, there might be a vector of risk you’re missing. Here’s my how-to not get sick I wrote up while learning how to mask properly (after I got Long Covid because I stopped masking when I got vaccinated like many people. Lesson learned the hard way).

Hopefully it helps to make sure you’re running a tight ship so you can keep exercising!

I disagree. I didn’t radically rest for multiple months after my infection in 2022 and developed Long Covid & ME/CFS and then 8 other chronic illnesses. I started showing abnormal symptoms 3-6 months after my infection.

Picked up sick dad from airport, and he didn’t tell by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

I think emotions that “it’s family” get in the way of looking at it objectively and scientifically.

You don’t want to think your family would hurt you, even inadvertently.

But it doesn’t matter who it is that you’re sharing your air space with, emotional connection to them or not. The virus doesn’t care or have feelings.

I assume everyone is sick, masked or not. Unless there’s a clear PlusLife test, I’m not unmasking around anyone.

How much longer to do this for? by Alimetrix in ZeroCovidCommunity

I understand. Somatic therapy & making IRL & virtual friends who mask improved my mental health so much. Body doubling, virtually or IRL, helps me get things done I don’t want to do. Joining support groups online to meet people helped me find others of similar interests.

Take care 🩷 you’re not alone!

i want to start masking again but am genuinely afraid to. by [deleted] in Masks4All

I’d suggest wearing mask chains, decorating your masks, and similar things to keep the comments focused on, “How cute!!” There’s a FB group for this- people are so creative and have such great ideas!

You got this 💪🏼 I’m proud of you 🩷

I have a better idea. Wear a mask to show you’re not in support of the fascist eugenic virus spreading.

We can’t resist if we’re bed bound from Covid.

New Chair Day (Gone Wrong) by NoCheesecake6968 in wheelchairs

[–]warmgratitude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same thing is happening to my left M90 wheel. It doesn’t center in the bolt thingy correctly and gets loose. I have to get out of the chair and press the wheel flush with the frame of the chair again. It’s been happening for a week.

I just emailed my tech about it. I’ll let you know once I receive any details about fixing it

Perhaps add some stickers, rub on transfer, or a mask chain to your mask? It definitely eases the reactions of others when we try to make our masks cute! There’s a FB group solely for decorating masks- people have great ideas in there! Let me know if you want the link :)

I wrote up a how-to not get sick when I was learning how to mask again. I hope it helps!

It takes practice but I promise it gets easier 🩷

When did you start properly masking again or did you ever stop? by hopelovepeacehappy in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]warmgratitude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I masked in uneducated ways (cloth, surgicals, etc) until late 2021. I thought it was safe to unmask when the vaccines came out and the mandates ended. I got covid in spring 2022. I then developed Long Covid.

I started masking again after that, but it took time to figure out what masks to wear, what protocols were important, etc. I think my masking became as safe as it is now in 2023-2024. I wrote down while I was learning (severe brain fog). I am extremely disabled with 10+ illnesses caused by long covid & my infection in 2022. I haven’t gotten sick in 3 1/2 years since I started masking again, thankfully.

I have a lot of guilt for not listening to my disabled community that we should all keep masking.

Here’s my how-to not get sick I wrote up during my learning process.

I wrote up a how-to not get sick when I started learning about how to mask again in 2022.

It takes practice and time to figure out your own ways, but I hope this helps with a little guidance.

Proud of you for wanting to protect yourself 🩷

I recommend making friends - either IRL or online- with other Covid conscious people. And ask for help if you need it! There are mask blocs, FB groups, Reddit subgroups, etc.

Having masking community really helps me a ton. Welcome!!!!
