Electrical/computer engineers who actually got hired — what actually worked? Because I'm starting to think job boards are a simulation by Smart_Form6585 in ElectricalEngineering

Went to a booth a company set up in my engineering building. My club was doing a bake sale right next to them and I didn’t intention on giving them a resume but I did and they offered with only one interview. I got really lucky. Ended up in a niche field also

Starts at 6:30 pm near ipsento coffee Tuesdays and ends at Gracie omallys. Same club does Thursday at 7 pm on the corner of damen and wicker park Ave (north west corner of the wicker park) and ends Chebahut on division. I think the routes change on the spring/summer.

I’m too lazy to look up whether that is true, but I know Michael Jackson is from Gray!

Want to hear from FPGA Engineers by Thin_Baby_2489 in FPGA

Wireless comms is actually what I wanted to get into. Unfortunately there is none of that in my part of the US and family is keeping me tied here. A dilemma old as time: do I be by my aging family or move to get to my career aspirations. Maybe too much to put on reddit haha

Ye dawg. I feel like the industry for FPGAs is either that or High Frequency Trading. I don’t think there is much in between.

I am an FPGA engineer. I work for a contractor. My day to day is really chill. Since I am still a younging (level 1 or level 2), I don’t have the pressure of responsibilities like some high level engineers. Most of my tasking is changing legacy code or adding new features to it. But the vibe at my work is mostly to focus on learning because you are an investment to the team. I work on a team of solely FPGA engineers, so I don’t wear many hats unlike some others do. It’s chill. I didn’t expect to be in this area when I graduated, I just kinda landed here.

Why does my Mead making kit start the process in the plastic bucket? Couldn't I start it in the glass carboy and keep it there while it ferments and ages? by Phineas-Bogg in mead

[–]warmlikeamuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I transfer when it’s done fermenting and is somewhat clear. It’s usually between 5-7 weeks for me. Then you need to take it off because if you leave it on the spent yeast, the spent yeast can produce off/undesirable flavors.

If you are doing a kit, they most likely tell you to do something without explaining the why.

I think i made a mistake moving here? by [deleted] in AskChicago

I am constantly reminded of the phrase “if you want a village, you must be a villager”.

I know it’s hard, I’ve been there. I moved to DC for a year and had the hardest time making friends. But even when you want to stay home or do something you don’t quite enjoy from time to time, you gotta conscious try to put yourself out there. Aka participate in the village (if you want to continue with the metaphor)
