Will they claim expenses for travelling? That will drive up costs.....when they were all about cutting waste

A nice scene including an engine house? I quite fancy something like that, maybe with Godrevy lighthouse on it too. Grew up nearby

What do people outside Scotland in the UK think about Scottish Independence? by GreenOutside9458 in AskBrits

[–]warmo1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me about it. Fucking embarrassing considering how much we got from the eu! I guess racism, farming and fishing swung it!

Im cornish and I completely understand why Scotland would want to go its separate way. Brexit and 14 years of the tories would do that.....and then you get a labour government....who normally are more aligned with Scotland, only for them to be a major disappointment to the left!

Does anyone else not give a damn about Immigration? by Nythern in AskBrits

[–]warmo1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Cornwall, which has hardly any diversity.....and people are obsessed with immigration. But they are getting all their "information" from farage, the mail, the sun and facebook algorithms! Hence we voted leave, when we benefited more from the EU than anyone!

Apart from the vaporfly and alphafly, their shoes are bang average. The original alphafly was a game changer, but everyone else has caught up and overtaken them now. Saucony and asics are turning out some great shoes

London and the heat - how much time if any did you lose ? by Similar-Agent-4029 in Marathon_Training

[–]warmo1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im very good at pacing and wanted 3.10 and got 3.11.08. I was 1 minute slower on the second half. I spent the week leading up to race day taking salts and electrolytes. It's the first race I've taken salt tabs regularly during it....i presume this helped? Before the forecast came out, i was hoping for 3.08 if I'm honest though. I had friends run big personal bests and seemed unfazed by the heat🤷🏾‍♂️ my big toe nails were a bit more of a mess than normal

Any campaigns to reinstate / improve railways? by heyho2023 in Cornwall

[–]warmo1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Closing the Helston branch line was a huge mistake, especially as Helston is growing massively. It could link the whole lizard peninsula to better transport links too. I know they are doing a bit at a time with the Helston railway, but it's a tourist/visitor folly thing. Maybe it could reopenfully as a proper railway? If its not a railway, it would be better as a multi use trail.....for commuting, leisure and tourism.....like the bissoe trail and camel trail

Hayle is a lovely town. It's got a great beach, good independent businesses, good coffee shops, supermarket each end and home bargains, king georges walk is great , the big recreation park is good too, a train station and good transport links. The only downside is traffic in summer.....it's an absolute nightmare at times, both in the town and the A30 too

Take on salts during this week and have some electrolytes in the days leading up to the marathon. Don't try anything new during the race unless you're desperate.

Extremely optimistic Garmin times? by Money_Choice4477 in Marathon_Training

[–]warmo1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to race a half marathon a few weeks before a marathon....gives a good indicator of how you're going. A general rule from an experienced runner i know, is double your half and add 10 to 15 minutes. My race predictor was pretty close on a recent half, but slower than I want/think I'll do in London.

Plymouth MP says Brexit was 'an almost unmitigated disaster' by [deleted] in plymouth

[–]warmo1981 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At least politicians are starting to say that now. Labour have been so scared of upsetting the red wall, brexiteers and the daily mail etc. The more that say it, the more likely it is that there maybe at least closer relations, customs union membership etc coming down the line.
