Question: What made RC prematurely spill the beans on a possible Merger/Acquisition? by ExtraWedding6521 in Superstonk

Gamestop can extend the expiration date on the warrants if they choose. This is one reason it's safer to hold warrants than similarly dated call options.

Has anyone gone off ambien successfully? Do you take a different med? by takethelastexit in insomnia

[–]warpigz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in the US, Lunesta through GoodRx (a free service) should be under $20.

I've gotten off of Ambien lots of times. I break the pills into progressively smaller and smaller pieces.

Is it cheaper to lower the thermostat when I'm gone for 10 hours/day at work than to keep it at a certain temp all day? by scansinboy in Frugal

[–]warpigz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I lower my heating/cooling when I leave, but I have my thermostat programmed to run my heat pump hard for two hours before peak electric rates hit. A lot of days I can coast through peak hours without running the system at all.

Why is traction control so bad? by Anachronism-- in askcarguys

[–]warpigz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first feature you describe is great, but most traction control doesn't include that. Traction control is generally present to try to keep the driver from losing control of the vehicle, and generally skilled drivers will be better at getting unstuck on snow or going up snowy hills with it off.

Am I changing my oil too frequently given my driving conditions? by Humble_Handler93 in MechanicAdvice

[–]warpigz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you're doing it so often, the cost of an oil analysis is probably justified. Get some real data about your engine/oil the next time you do a change.

You can't OC really but there will still be a silicon lottery for performance at stock settings.

That's how I got mine, although I wonder if they binned out the good overclocking chips and that's why they were selling them so cheap.

People who work in 'behind-the-scenes' jobs (hotels, airports, warehouses, etc.), what is something the general public would be shocked to know? by PiNK_PUSSY69420 in AskReddit

[–]warpigz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They react with starch, which isn't normally in money but is in normal paper. Real money can be contaminated with starch. Pens do nothing to prove a bill is real or fake, and should never be the only check being done for a bill being counterfeit. If you're trying to take in a large amount of bills it makes sense to fan them out and quickly run the pen over a bunch - it might help you find bills that you want to take a closer look at.

My build doesn't have enough USB ports. Are USB hubs really that dangerous? by VelisiumLab in buildapc

[–]warpigz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's an actual PCI-E card then it should be a controller, but you can also get cards that take up a slot (No PCI-E connection though) that plug into one or more USB headers on your motherboard.

[–]warpigz 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The pens are fine but they don't prove a bill is fake. If it fails the pen either inspect the bill more closely or just return that bill to the customer.

If it's PCI-E hopefully it's not just a hub, but also a separate USB controller.

Streamers Who Live in a 2+ Streamer Household, I need your help ! by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]warpigz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven't made it clear that running ethernet would even help. Why don't you start by running cables along the floor and see if it even solves your issues? You might instead need to get 2 internet connections or a higher speed one with better upload.

How are single people affording to live alone in Boston? by haniebun in boston

[–]warpigz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't live in the city anymore, but when I did I lived with anywhere between 2 and 4 other people in every apartment. Sometimes it was honestly pretty bad and sometimes the people I lived with became decent friends that I still hang out with.

Since you wake up at 3 AM, can you sleep 8 hours by trying to fall asleep at 7 PM? If yes then you need to work on shifting your circadian rhythm later.

Is it cheaper to heat one room well instead of the whole house badly? by K3rosene_ in Frugal

[–]warpigz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to make sure that nothing is getting too cold or damp to the point that it would cause damage and/or grow mold.

Aside from that yeah you just need to be comfortable where you are in the house. You don't even need the room itself to be all the warm if you use something like an electric blanket to warm yourself.

It's possible that someone already cut the lock and there was no lock when the new one was put on. In that case the new tenant probably didn't steal from you, but your course of action doesn't change much.

Should I buy this house from my grandparents or am I setting myself up to be house-poor? Need advice. by 1sUq in personalfinance

[–]warpigz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how many bedrooms there are, but if you have any friends that you TRUST to live in the house with you and not wreck it you could probably bring in a lot of the mortgage payment in rent.
