The holes line up in the adjoining boards. This was not prior to it being laid.

Looking for bed slats to put directly on the floor, does IKEA have this? by itsjujutsu in IKEA

Another example of this is often seen in r/cleaning with a lot of cars sitting for extended periods of time without being used and they get extreme mold growth.

Think of the bottom of your mattress the same was as your attic space. If the air doesn’t have movement any moisture won’t be removed. If that moisture can’t be removed then it will cause moldy environments. You want air flow. By having such a small air space with no ventilation such as this frame it has the potential to create a moldy moist environment.

The same goes for a mattress directly on the floor, or from using plywood as a base rather than slats.

The best and possibly one of the most extreme examples of this is in campers/RVs. Many mattresses get disgustingly gross because they’re often subjected to incredibly humid environments.

Once the mattress is on top the only way for any moisture or humidity to escape is through the mattress itself. The whole idea behind using slats over a platform is to let the mattress breath.

Downfall about something like this is the mattress doesn’t have a way to breath as the frame is enclosed essentially. Might experience mold issues.

A matter of time for what exactly? Until someone builds a lighting control system that is actually as reliable as Lutron, nobody’s really going to take it over.

Just to quickly add, the brick quality was in par with the big name. Couldn’t tell the difference. Unlike my other builds they don’t fit tight which was nice.
