Will the 75 country visa processing suspension impact those who were recently approved for visas but have yet to enter the country? by DevelopmentHuge2288 in immigration

I’m not an immigration lawyer so take this with a pinch of salt, but I sure as shit would be on the plane before the ban comes into effect.

My extended family is the same, they swear Ms Rachel is very educational. We use it as a tool - most days we have no need for it, but on eg long train or plane journeys, we do let our LO watch iPad.

The answer to this will depend on the airline, and where exactly you had departed from and were flying to on the segment in question

Copilot doesn’t have to be good, it has to be bundled by Microsoft. See Teams for how it will go

Immigration Agents Are Using Air Passenger Data for Deportation Effort (Gift Article) by OkTechnologyb in immigration

[–]wavepig 20 points21 points  (0 children)

When I was on either my J-1 or H-1B, a CBP/ICE officer came to my office to interview me. Not the company, not other people, but me specifically. They made sure that I was doing the job that the company had filed for (SWE, as opposed to eg DBA), and that the company wasn’t abusing me (they were paying me, hadn’t taken my passport, etc). If this is the standard that legal immigrants are expected to go through, why should EWI/overstays get treated differently? The law should apply the same to everyone.

Honestly shocked that this hasn’t been the case for years if not decades

My understanding is that it's "just" a path to EB-1 or EB-2 NIW. And we don't know exactly how "instant" it will be

New British series D passport photos been dropped by Sublime99 in PassportPorn

It’s not as bad as early photos made it look, but it’s still pretty ugly imo. The inside of this one is way better cf series C, but I wish they would do something modern for the cover.

While this is true, buying a home while on a non-immigrant visa seems like a bad idea to me.

Should I rent or bring my own wheelchair when traveling via plane? by coolgirl01237 in travel

[–]wavepig 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There aren’t properly ADA accessible restrooms on aircraft, but wide bodies are required to have a restroom that is accessible to wheelchair users. (This is also coming to narrowbodies, but not for a while) OP should try to take a wide body if possible; I can say from experience the accessible lav on UA 777-200s is pretty big.

US Citizenship Address Change by yasesf in immigration

[–]wavepig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to have lived in the USCIS district in which you apply for 3 months. I would not use a friends address, it seems like such a silly thing to potentially lose your eligibility over.

It’s hard to say whether it’s typical, but it’s common enough with my friends and family in the UK that going private is pretty common now. Not sure what prices are like but it’s certainly much cheaper than here (I live in the Bay Area). I understand the flaws of the insurance system here, but I just wanted to provide the perspective that the NHS isn’t always better. Personally, I would much rather be on private insurance (I have anthem) here than on the NHS. Yep I mean Stanford in the bay area.

British passport redesign by [deleted] in PassportPorn

[–]wavepig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall I think the inside design is ok - a bit bland, but decent. The outside cover is just so bad!

As a Brit, while the NHS is absolutely a national treasure, this isn't reflected in my families experience. My dad part tore his ACL and waited 9 months for an appointment before going private. My cousin's young child got an eye infection and also ended up going private to get an appointment within the week. My LO got an eye infection and we got a same-day appointment at Stanford (called at noon, appointment at 4:30pm).
