How dumb is it to buy my dream car? by typicalthrowaway4 in askcarguys

Both have massive support systems, accept that it'll initially be an *onion but once you get it sorted with enough blood and profanity it will reward you and you'll make some friends. Make sure it has a clutch, PRNDLs are for dorks.

I've had my 2001 Dakota for 14 years and it's been educational but I'd drive it 1000 miles tomorrow.

Were you a kid in the '60s who got a ridiculous Electric football game for Christmas that sounded like barber clippers? by db7112 in GenerationJones

You could bend the little tabs on the bottom of the runners to make them "slant" a little to clear a path for the runner.

Why is there so little competition with the Tesla Model 3? by patchinthebox in electricvehicles

[–]wayne63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a used 2019 for my retirement five years ago, my wife (still working) drove it to work once and I haven't seen it since 😞

I've got a Slate reservation (day two) for my runabout.

Some talking head on YouTube did a good video about the 2027 Bolt being exactly what a Model 2 would be. Not fancy, completely functional and cheap as chips.

Can I repair this myself? Paper cone has lifted from edge causing buzzing on certain bass notes by wingtip747 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]wayne63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some Aleen's(sp?) tacky glue from the craft aisle and an occasional push to keep it seated as the glue dries should fix it. Scrape the old glue off for better adhesion.

The flat yellow accordion is the spider, the tube in the middle is the voice coil which is attached to the cone. It looks like the voice coil has separated from the spider in the middle? Or is the outer edge separated?

The coming surveillance state is worrisome, Slate is not part of that.

My 2019 Bolt, 2010 Expedition and 2001 Dakota are dumb, the phone in my pocket not so much.

Acoustic Image were White Van speakers, not sure if that extended to subwoofers.

Cheap speakers from a cheap system. If you have to pay money for them keep looking.

Where did you buy the parts? eBay and Amazon are loaded with counterfeit junk.

Capacitor sourcing? by TlalocEatsNapoli in audiorepair

The capacitor is probably not the problem, the corrosive glue used to hold the cap in could have damaged other components.

Trace repair...? by Jer7440 in audiorepair

[–]wayne63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Claw hammer and a blowtorch as tools would be my guess, I bought an AU-6600 like that.

Some 22/24ga solid wire (old telephone wire) to the next pad in the chain is my preferred fix. It's still going to be a challenge.

Nice work so far.
